I John 1:1-4
Consider the Magnitude(Vs. 1)
Consider the Magnitude(Vs. 1)
The Word Became Flesh
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
This whole discourse, and indeed the whole gospel, are about the Word becoming flesh: not the Word becoming an idea, a spirituality, a feeling, or an experience.
N. T. Wright
God became Man
Beginning- touched Him
One thing to hear,
Another to hear and see
Looked upon- Time to study
Another to hear, see, and touch
John is saying I have no doubt of who Jesus is
We don’t have to have any doubt
To have heard was not enough; people ‘heard’ God’s voice in the Old Testament. To have seen was more compelling. But to have touched was the conclusive proof of material reality, that the Word ‘became flesh, and lived for a while among us’.
John Stott
These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
Word of Life- The Word who is the Life
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Consider the Manifestation(Vs. 2)
Consider the Manifestation(Vs. 2)
The Truth of Christ was revealed to Us
Christ was made real in our lives
Now that we know
We are compelled to share it with others
Matt 22:1-14
Many were to busy
But what was the servant doing
The invitations of the Gospel are invitations to happiness. In delivering God’s message, we do not ask men to come to a funeral, but to a wedding feast!
“Marvelous Things”, Volume 54, Sermon #3086 - Psalm 98:1, 2

Consider the Meaning(Vs. 3-4)
Consider the Meaning(Vs. 3-4)
We have the opportunity for fellowship and Joy
not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
It is possible to be close to people physically and miles away from them spiritually. One of the sources of Christian joy is this fellowship that believers have in Jesus Christ.
Warren W. Wiersbe
The simple fact is that if men are ever to find fellowship with one another and fellowship with God, and if they are ever to find true joy, they must find them in Jesus Christ.
William Barclay
