Matthew 3:13-17

COR
Matthew 3:13–17 NASB 2020
Then Jesus arrived from Galilee at the Jordan, coming to John to be baptized by him. But John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I have the need to be baptized by You, and yet You are coming to me?” But Jesus, answering, said to him, “Allow it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. After He was baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and settling on Him, and behold, a voice from the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
It is a time to throw away. A Time to be silent.
Traditions?
John the Baptist sees Jesus come to him, looking for John to submit to John. This goes against what John believes is true and John tries to convice Jesus differently. But Jesus tells him this is what needs to be done, so John has a choice to make, to give up what he believes is right, to surrender what he believes is right in order to follow Jesus or hold onto what he believes is right and put himself in opposition.
We all want to do what we believe is true. But because we are unable to see the whole picture, we can trust that Jesus does.
