Welcome:
Welcome:
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today in remembrance of Lois Allen. As our hearts mourn the loss of a woman of many talents, may we rest in the assurance that she was a woman of faith.
Prayer:
Prayer:
Lord, You have wept beside the grave. You have been touched with and understand the feelings of our sorrow. I ask that You will come to those who seek You and comfort them in this time of need.
Reveal yourself to those who seek Your comfort and let them hear You say, “I am the resurrection and the life.”
Draw these who have lost a loved one to You with true discernment, that they may abide in You through living faith. Let them find the comfort of Your presence and the assurance in You of all that is to come. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Pastoral Comments
As I spoke with family I found that Lois was a caring person who had faith in the Lord. She was a very talented person who worked hard her entire life.
She married young, had nine kids, and traveled all over including some time in Montana once, before coming back and settling down here.
A couple people highlighted that she was a proficient bowler that went to the Texas state tournament. One recollected that she took second in that tournament.
She made ceramic dolls and other decorative ceramics. She loved painting the ceramics and making the clothes for the ceramic dolls.
One person told me Lois was a tough woman. When I asked what they meant by that, they responded you try raising 9 children.
Ron said you never really talked back to her. He recalled a time when he had a Norton Chopper and he was getting ready to go into the Navy. Ron said he told Lois he was thinking maybe he should sell the bike because he wasn’t going to be around to ride it.
Then one day he said he was coming down a long dirt road across a field on their property doing about 120 mph. Lois said he should get a helmet. To which Ron replied mom, a helmet wouldn’t look good on this bike.
Now, back to the comment about possibly selling the bike. It was probably worth around $2000 at the time. After he went in the Navy he found out she had sold the bike for him. For a whopping $250. To which he found out later she never collected the money.
And lest I forget, Lois might have been a good shot with a gun. Linda talked about when they lived in Montana the first time and Lois would do a lot of hunting. Linda said she was a really good shot.
There was enough time that passed when the younger children came along that they didn’t get to see that. Ron spoke about the time he was shocked by her shooting abilities.
Lois was working at a hotel place that also had some camper spots in Texas. She was responsible for taking the night deposit to the bank. He told her he was going to buy her a gun and teach her how to use it. Ron said dad about fell out of his chair laughing. Ron said when he took her out to shoot the gun she out shot him.
Dave talked about a time when Lois shocked him with her shooting expertise. He said they were out one day and he had his pistol. He set a soda can up for practice and told her to hit the can.
She asked where he wanted her to hit the can and he said I don’t know I just aim at the can. She asked if it was accurate and e said it shoots a bit to the left. She shot one shot and hit a rock. The next shot she hit the bottom of the can popped the can in the air and then shot the can again in the air.
When she gave the pistol back he asked what she thought and she said it’s all right. Dave said she wasn’t one to brag, but if you asked she’d prove she could out shoot you.
And the children aren’t the only ones who talked about Lois’ shooting ability. Chet said when they were kids they would go squirrel hunting. He said he would chase the squirrels around the tree and Lois would be on the other side of the tree with a .22 and she was a fantastic shot.
Lois was a Christian who instilled Christian values into the family.
Ron spoke of a time, after he became a Christian through Young Life, when Lois was trying to help him find a church. He said they wound up in a charismatic church where people were talking in tongues and others were interpreting. She said this isn’t the right church.
Lois attended the Charlos Heights Community Church for a time and always looked forward to being called into heaven. She so eagerly anticipated it that Ron said every time they would go to visit after she went into the home, she would always respond if I’m still here.
We can rest in the assurance that she is now living in the eternal grace of God, through Jesus Christ, in heaven.

Scripture Reading
1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
4 And you know the way to where I am going.”
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

We believe there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus: and we know that in everything works for the good with those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.
We are sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor heights, nor depth, nor anything else in creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus Our Lord.
May the peace of God which passes all understanding keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of His Son Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
