Going Yonder

OUTLINE FOR SALT HUDDLES

We’re Going Yonder!

Where - Where Are We Going?
How - How Will We Get There?
Yonder means, “at some distance in the direction indicated: over there. The far distance.”
Throughout the years you've heard me say that the Lord is leading us, or we are building. I've noticed though that we've had to go through a season of being cemented. I truly feel that we are at a place where we can build, in a healthy way, that can outlast us.
As we hear that phrase, "We’re Going Yonder." We ought to be real with ourselves and ask questions, like:
Q: Where are we going?
Where? EPH. 4:15-16
Ephesians 4:15–16 (ESV)
15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
Grow into Him, the Head-Christ. (Find Jesus)
The whole body, fitted and knit together. (Find Community)
Promoting growth of the body. (Find Purpose)
Building itself up in love.
By each individual part working properly.
Once we have identified where, we ought to ask:
Q: How will we get there?
How will we get to the place as a ministry where we are:
Growing in Jesus.
United as one community.
Promoting, building and working together in love.
A: Eph. 4:11-13
Ephesians 4:11–13 (ESV)
11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,
Operating in the gifts that Jesus gave to:
Equipping the saints for the work of ministry.
Building up the body Christ.
Attain Unity.
With a two-fold vision:
In faith.
In the knowledge of the Son of God.
Maturing by measuring up to Christ's stature.
What does it look like to operate in the way Jesus intends?
Equipping - the Greek word is, Katartismos, n. equipping.
The bringing of someone or something to completion (perfect and adequate in every respect) and fit for some purpose.
Correcting all that is deficient
Building - the Greek word is, oikodomē, n. edification; building.
The act of bringing something closer to fullness or completion; understood as if assisting in the construction of an incomplete building.
Unifying - the Greek word is, henotēs, n. unity.
Oneness - the quality of being united into one.
Maturing - the Greek word is, teleios, adj. perfect, mature, complete, initiated, fully developed.
Mature Development - having reached full natural growth or development.
This is the focus of what, “We’re Going Yonder" means.
Focusing on:
Equipping
Building
Unifying
Maturing
This won’t take one or two meetings to accomplish. Instead, this will:
Take Time.
| tīm | n. a moment or definite portion of time allotted, used, or suitable for a purpose.
Involve Commitment.
| kəˈmitmənt | n. the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc.
Call for Devotion
| dəˈvōSH(ə)n | n. love, loyalty, or enthusiasm for a person, activity, or cause.
By which no means is easy, because we aren’t taking time, nor committing ourselves or being devoted to whatever cause there is in this world.
Instead, we are taking time, committing ourselves, and devoting ourselves to the one thing the very gates of hell shutters and hates:
Jesus and His Church.
Ministry Framework
There is a Ministry Framework that will help us accomplish what we just learned in Ephesians 4:11-16.
As we grow, and as we expand, the ministry framework may expand as well. But, right now there are some qualities that are super important at NW:
Communication
Accountability
Unity
As Directors of Northwest you are responsible for the oversight of the entire ministry given the task to oversee under the leadership of the Pastoral Team to (responsibilities)...
As a director and part of the leadership team at New Life Covenant | Northwest Campus, Directors are expected to, C.A.M.O.A:
