Tricking your mind into thinking you are somewhere you are not.
Living in reality or virtual world.
Many are ignoring a spiritual reality that God has made clear for us.
Living like all there is in this world is physical will lead to destruction.
John 6:35–40 ESV
35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
We should live with a spiritual identity.
John 3 - born again- Spiritual life brings a spiritual reality.

5 Realities of Spiritual Life

1. It is Provided for Eternity (35)

John 6:35 ESV
35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
Physical things will disappear.
Physical food never fulfills very long.
The greatest meal you've ever eaten only satisfies for a few hours.
ILL-- Lamberts (Ozark Missouri- on way to Branson).
Spiritual life fulfills for eternity.

2. It Is Revealed in the Physical (36)

John 6:36 ESV
36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe.
God has revealed himself in the world. General and Special Revelation.
They saw physically and yet they don't believe.
Science- greatness of creation - created from nothing.
James McDonald- If the distance from earth to sun was one piece of paper. ILLUSTRATION
93 millions from earth to sun.
310 miles high stack of paper would be the length of our galaxy.
31 million miles high is known universe (10.4 million stacks of paper)
Man sees the physical evidence and yet does not believe.
John 20:29 ESV
29 Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Romans 1:19–23 ESV
19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

3. It is Initiated by God (37a)

John 6:37 ESV
37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.
He created all we know and it is his reality.
ILL— The Santa Claus- the elf, "Seeing is not believing, Believing is seeing."
Not exactly- then you can just believe hard enough and see anything.
We would have the control. We would power the magic.
Seeing is not believing, believing is accepting what God has said. Trusting what he has revealed to us.
He makes this reality known to us and gives to Jesus all who believe.
John 6:45 ESV
45 It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me—
John 12:32 ESV
32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”
Spirit calls- whoever wills receives.

4. It is Provided by Jesus (37b-39)

John 6:37–39 ESV
37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day.
We are not saved by works and works will not keep us saved.
It is all Jesus who saved us by grace and all Jesus who holds us in his hands until our glorification.
Hands of God
Romans 8:37–39 ESV
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
2 Corinthians 1:21–22 ESV
21 And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, 22 and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

5. It is God's Desire for You (40)

John 6:40 ESV
40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
Whoever looks on son and believes.
Moses in the wilderness. God sent poisonous snakes because of their complaining.
The bronze snake. Whoever looks to the snake will be healed.
“And I will raise him up on the last day.”
Resurrection of the saints.
Resurrected hope for those who serve God in Christ.

Hebrews 11:6 ESV
6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Acts 16:31 ESV
31 And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
John 20:31 ESV
31 but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
Jesus is the only way.
John 14:6 ESV
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
CONCLUSION
These men refused to believe in what they had already seen.
Jesus revealed to them a spiritual truth of eternal life.
They walk away without believing.
