1 Corinthians 15:53.......A change of wardrobe

Psalm 16:8 “I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.”
The Apostle Paul writes this letter to young, thriving church at Corinth.
But the church was having some issues as well.
The church was divided, it was feuding and arguing among themselves and had form cliques among themselves in the church..
How many of you know that a divided house is destined for failure......TALK, PREACH.....
So Paul writes this letter to address some serious concerns and also answer some questions that arose....
1 purpose was to draw the church back together,
another purpose was to deal with the moral laxity in the church....we need another letter for us today about this but that’s a different sermon...
and lastly to answer questions about such things as marriage, Christian liberty and as we will look at here shortly, resurrection of the believer.
and that brings us to our text for the day...
verses 50-58 deal with the radical change of the body...
if you do not walk away with anything today please remember this.....
if a person is going to live eternally in the presence of God, then this human body must first undergo a radical change, it must be completely remade.
and these verses show a change that is needed (v50), a change that is a brand new revelation (51-52), a change that brings victory over the grave (54-56), a change that comes through our Lord Jesus Christ....
and for our text today, v53, a change that brings a totally new nature....
and all because of a change of wardrobe.....
Let’s walk for a few moments...
1 Corinthians 15:53 “For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”
Sis. Florence had to go thru a change the other day so she could have the eternal peace that Christ has promised us...
Paul said very clear in v50........... 1 Corinthians 15:50 “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.”
Lexham Context Commentary: New Testament Our Final Victory (15:50–58)

The natural human body is not fitted for heavenly life. It is corruptible and cannot be part of a world in which there is no corruption. When Paul uses the term “flesh and blood” he refers to the natural state of the body in this life

She had to change for the better. As much as we didn’t want it to happen it had to...
her wardrobe had to change....
look I everyone in here is holy and sanctified now but if you remember a few years back on a friday or saturday....TALK, PREACH.....
When we jump back into v53, if i can play with some words for a few moments....
mortal and corruptible....this wordly flesh, it ages, it deteriorate, dies, decays
Genesis 2:7And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”
from dust we came and to the dust we shall return....
family…her earthly body was tired....that dementia had deteriorated her mind....
but her heavenly father saw what was going on and called HIs child home the other day...
I have some parents in here....when you see your child has skinned their knee or they are sick.....TALK, PREACH...
but before she could home, she had to change her wardrobe....
immortal, incorruptible....she was transformed for her heavenly home....
a land of no more.....TALK, PREACH...
let’s look at 3 more words, MUST PUT ON....
in the Greek text it is translated, to put on, to be clothed with....
I & II Corinthians E. The Nature of Resurrection (15:35–58)

Believers must have imperishable and immortal bodies to carry into eternity

She was clothed in her new spiritual garments...
and in the twinkling of an eye, she standing at the gates....
let’s close this thing on out...
her mortal had put on immortality...
her corruptible had put on incorruption...
she got her long white robe....
she got 2 wings to vail her face, 2 wings to vail her feet and 2 wings to fly away....
here goes the shout....
she didn’t have to go by herself....
i heard Jesus say over in John 14:3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
she closed her eyes in the land of the dying and opened them in the land of the living....
TALK, PREACH CLOSE....
