Being fairly close to a military base, we have quite a few veterans and the occasional active-duty soldier come to our services. If you ask anyone with a military background about an S.O.P., you’ll get the sense of boldness and security that fills a person when given clear, simple instructions on how to act or interact with the gear, environment, and people around them. God has given us an S.O.P. as well. Yet, because of sin, we find it hard to adhere to it; yet have little problem with the directions given by a parent, teacher, or boss. The difference is likely your relationship with the one setting the bar. That is why the first thing God wants you to know about Him is how to become His friend.
