Vocabulary word: Salvation
Memory verses: Eph2:1-10 by end of March, quoted to Pradeep.

Introduction:

Salvation: This word deserves us to know, fully understand, be most careful to understand so can translate to others. We will take a thoughtful scripture filled study of this word and the application and ramifications of this word. For in this word it represents the mission of the Savior and the purpose and plan of God. God’s scheme of redemption!
Salvation is the only remedy for sin, without salvation man is helplessly and hopelessly lost and condemned.

Aim:

To understand the greatness of this offer of salvation, this free gift available to all, the only remedy to the sin problem.
To look at and grasp that Jesus Christ, Jesus the Nazarene is the predetermined way, plan, He is the purposed Savior and lost man’s only hope of redemption, salvation.

Outline:

Salvation is God’s desire for all men
Men to be saved ( look up 1Tim2:4-5; ref 2Pt3:8-9)
1 Timothy 2:4–5 NASB95
4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
Salvation is God’s design for lost man (look up 2Tim1:9; ref: Jn3:14-16, 36)
2 Timothy 1:9 NASB95
9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,
Salvation is the proclamation of the Good News. (turn to Rom1:16; ref: Act13:26; turn to look up Eph1:13)
Romans 1:16 NASB95
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
then Eph1:13
Ephesians 1:13 NASB95
13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,
Salvation is the way of the Good News. (turn to Act16:17; ref: Jn14:6)
Acts 16:17 NASB95
17 Following after Paul and us, she kept crying out, saying, “These men are bond-servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation.”
Salvation is the power of the Good News (ref: Act1:16-17, look up 1Cor1:18)
1 Corinthians 1:18 NASB95
18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Salvation is the urgent message of the Good News (look up 2Cor6:2)
2 Corinthians 6:2 NASB95
2 for He says, “At the acceptable time I listened to you, And on the day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is “the acceptable time,” behold, now is “the day of salvation”—
Salvation is to be had only in and through Christ Jesus (ref: Jn14:6, look up Act4:12; Ref: Heb2:10, 5:9, 7:25; look up 2Tim2:10)
Acts 4:12 NASB95
12 “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
and then
2 Timothy 2:10 NASB95
10 For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.
Conclusion:
Salvation is made possible and is available through God’s eternal purpose and grace through faith. (ref: 2Tim1:9; turn to Tit3:4-7; ref: Eph2:1-10 and 1Pt1:9-18)
Titus 3:4–7 NASB95
4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, 5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Such a great salvation is that which saves us from condemnation
Saves from this perverse generation (turn to: Act2:40)
Acts 2:40 NASB95
40 And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation!”
Saves us from life’s lostness and futility (ref: Lk19:10, Mt18:11)
Christ came to seek and save the lost!
Saves us from penalty of sin (ref: Rom6:23; turn to Gal1:3-4; turn to Rom8:1-3)
Galatians 1:3–4 NASB95
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave Himself for our sins so that He might rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
and then
Romans 8:1–3 NASB95
1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,
Such a great salvation is a process, not merely an event at baptism. (turn to read 2The2:13)
2 Thessalonians 2:13 NASB95
13 But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.
STOP: Discuss this, what does it mean “God has chosen you?” How were you chosen?
It is freedom from the past (ref: Act2:38; 2Tim1:9)
It is victory over the present (ref:1Cor1:18; 2Cor6:2)
It is assurance of the future (ref: 1Pt1:5; Rom13:11)
Such a great salvation is, or should be, a great concern for those in the Church that Jesus built (ref: Eph4:22ff)
Finally, such a great salvation can be neglected and lost, and that is a scary thing (turn to Heb2:3; ref: 1COr15:1-4; turn to Rom5:9)
Hebrews 2:1–3 NASB95
1 For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it. 2 For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty, 3 how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard,
and then Rom5:9
Romans 5:9 NASB95
9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.
