blindness and sight

if you are blind ,. . .
you don’t know which way to go or which way to turn
someone else has to lead you, and you have to hope they are leading you right
danger can stare you right in the face, and you won’t even know it
you have no idea of where the finish line is
with sight, you know where you are going
with sight, you can avoid stumblingblocks
with sight, you can prepare for the dangers ahead
with sight, you can see the finish line
with sight, you can help someone else get to their rightful destination
Background
came from a good family - pure blood Hebrew, tribe of Benjamin, Pharisee
well educated - top teachers
well positioned - a Roman citizen, well connected, rising career
excited about life - persecuting these false teachers
Saul/Paul is persecuting the followers of this new religious movement
and despite all of these advantages - He is spiritually blind
let me say it another way. He has no idea what he’s doing
Acts 9:12 NASB95
12 and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him, so that he might regain his sight.”

and he has seen in a vision

true sight starts with spiritual sight, a revelation from God
in other words, God shows you something
and spiritual sight starts with knowing who the Lord is
Acts 9:5 NASB95
5 And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” And He said, “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,

a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him

you can’t see working alone

so that he main regain his sight

once you take care of spiritual sight, you will be able to safely navigate the natural world
