Recognizing and Overcoming Temptations

1. Temptation will always question what God has said.

Luther struggling with how a sinful man can be a in a right relationship with God. Struggling with that when trying to translate the bible into the language of his people.

2. Temptation will always question the goodness of God to you.

Harriet Tubman led herself and 70 people from slavery to freedom. Often it was rough because people would say. If God is so good why does slavery exist. This was the faith of Ms. Tubman. “When I think of all the groans and tears and prayers I’ve heard on plantations, and remember that God is a prayer-hearing God, I feel that his time is drawing near. He gave me my strength, and he set the North Star in the heavens; he meant I should be free”

3. Temptation will always try to appeal to your senses.

Marlboro Man took the brand Marlboro cigarettes from last to first place. all by using a model dressed as a cowboy. The image of masculinity got sold and people thought it was cool but it was killing them

Jesus won the battle of temptation, so we can say we overcame the battle as well.
