Worship is defined as the “activity of glorifying God in His presence with our voices and hearts”

There are many ways that we worship God

through study

through service

through witnessing

through our lives

in fact if this is our definition of worship

then it seems that we are to worship God in all aspects of our lives

But specifically, we are to worship God

as a body of believers

when we come into His presence

and it is in that context that we come to Him

with all of hearts

adoring Him and all he has done for us

praising Him and His goodness

Paul told the church at Colossi

Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”

Paul had just finished urging believers to let the peace of Christ rule in them

now, he is saying to let the word of Christ dwell richly among them

dwell if we remember means to come and live

to pitch your tent if you will

Paul is telling them to have

the word of God come

and live richly inside of them

and together, as brothers and sisters they are gain wisdom through teaching

a form of worship

they are to admonish each other

which is to caution each other

to keep each other on track

another form of worship

so as they

and we learn more of God

as His word comes and lives or dwells within us

what is a way we can make this happen

through psalms,

hymns, and spiritual songs

see the early church did not have the NT

and one of the ways they would praise and exalt

Christ was through the singing

of the psalms

singing of poems which held His truths

some ways they would learn of God and Christ

was to sing of his Glory

and his truth

to help it stay with them

to help them in adoration

to help seal it in their hearts

and they were to do all of this

with thankfulness to God

So tonight

as we continue to worship God

in fellowship

corporately

and personally

lets remember all we have to be thankful for

lets remember the goodness of God

through the singing of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs
