Please turn in your Bibles to Genesis ch. 1
I have told you a little about myself, and now I want to ask each of you a question (please right this down).
Who Is The Lord of My Life?
Who Is The Lord of My Life?
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Created in the Image of God doesn't just mean our physical appearance is reflective that of Gods. No, it means far more than that. Just like...
You can tell where my son gets his good looks… his mother.
Genesis stating that we are created in the image of God means that we mirror Gods spiritual nature.
Every human on this earth was created, was “stitched together in their mothers whom” and reflects the very nature of God.
In this passage Genesis states that humans are to rule the world on Gods behalf! In other words we are to allow God to rule through us.
This is exactly what God intended for us! This is the Garden of Eden, a depiction of perfect harmony.
But unfortunately we do not always allow God to rule through us… Idk about you but I know I fail at this constantly.
When We Fail
When We Fail
So God in His sovereignty gives us a warning in Genesis ch. 4
Genesis 4:7
Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.”
If you are not master over your sin, than you are a slave to your sin.
It is when we fail to allow God to rule through us that we allow sin to be our master.
“All sin promises to serve and please but only desires to enslave and dominate”.

I am going to represent “US” with this cup.
Empty Cup
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins
Paul writing to the church of Ephesus is describing a person who has never allowed God to rule through them.
Kind of like this Empty Cup
Cup of Water
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
Paul follows up his previous statement with the mercy of the gospel. Describing a person who has made the choice to allow God to rule through their life.
Kind of like a cup full of water.
Start pouring water
David, a person a lot like the one Paul is describing, writes in Psalms:
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
You see, the very attributes of God such as Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self control freely flow out of a person who is Allowing God to be the Lord of their Life.
Cup of Gunk
However, because of our selfish nature and sin filled world we are surrounded by we fail.
Start pouring dark juice
We listen to the lies of the enemy, we give in to temptation, we disobey God, and we ultimately allow sin to cloud our vision.
Peter allowed shame and pride to cloud his vision when confronted about following Jesus.
Jonah allowed fear to dictate his answer and disobeyed God.
King David allowed lust to rule his heart and greatly sinned and displeased the Lord.
I have allowed my anger to get the best of me and cloud my judgement.
Cup of Renewed Spirit
Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.
Letting sin rule our lives allows for destruction.
James 5:16 (ESV)
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed.
Scripture commands us to pray for forgiveness of our sins.
because only through the mercy of God on our life will He heal us.
Pour water into cup
Paul cries out in prayer
Romans 7:24
“What a wretched man am I! Who will deliver me from this body of death?”
David on his knees before God cries out
Psalm 51:1,10 (ESV)
“Have mercy on me, O God”
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
Only by the forgiveness and Mercy of God will He pour Himself into you flooding out sin and anything not like Him
Cleansing you, stretching you, strengthening you, and make you holy.
Conclusion
Conclusion
The process isn't easy at times, it will take faith and trust, but the anger and sin that rules your life will start to fade and you will be a reflection of Gods spiritual nature.
You Must Allow God To Poor Into Your Life!!
You have to answer the call He has on your life.
