Eulogy
Eulogy
We’re gathered here today because Nanny meant something special to us. She was a mother, a grandmother, an aunt, a friend.
Brittany and I were reminiscing about Nanny, Brittany remembers learning how to hang sheets on the clothesline, (I remember her ironing those sheets). She taught her how to cook dumplings, turnips and lima beans. I remember eating mashed potatoes with mayonnaise. They’d get out the new JcPenney catalog and look at every page. She remembers the conversations, sitting together and drinking coffee.
Nanny loved her flower garden, many times she dug flowers up and sent them home to be planted in our yard. She enjoyed cooking for the family after church. She made Brittany’s dresses when she was little.
I remember Nanny in church. She loved the Lord and served Him the best she knew, by loving and serving others.
Sermon
Sermon
Like all of us, Nanny only had so many breaths in this life, and now she has breathed her last.
1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
He determines the sowing and the reaping. The planting season and the harvest.
He was there at our first breath.
Psalm 139:1 (KJV 1900)
1 O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, Thou understandest my thought afar off.
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, And art acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, But, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, And laid thine hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain unto it.
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: If I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, And thy right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; Even the night shall be light about me.
12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; But the night shineth as the day: The darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
13 For thou hast possessed my reins: Thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Marvellous are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well.
15 My substance was not hid from thee, When I was made in secret, And curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; And in thy book all my members were written, Which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: When I awake, I am still with thee.
He was there from the first breath.
10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: Thou art my God from my mother’s belly.
He was there to help you all through your life.
5 For thou art my hope, O Lord God: Thou art my trust from my youth.
9 Cast me not off in the time of old age; Forsake me not when my strength faileth.
He is with us at our last breath, in fact, Job tells us He numbers our days.
5 Seeing his days are determined, The number of his months are with thee, Thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
David tells us what those boundaries are.
10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; And if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, Yet is their strength labour and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
Our days pass quickly, even 93 years.
5 Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; And mine age is as nothing before thee: Verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
One day there will be a resurrection, but until then we never know when our last breath on earth will be.
But now, until that time, until He comes, we want to live each day like He might come the next minute, because it might be the end of your life at that minute. You don’t know when you’re going. This may be some of our last breath, we have it in us now, so you want to live like it is. 62-0601 - Taking Sides With Jesus
You can’t do anything about when your last breath is, but you can do something about where your next breath is.
When Nanny left this life, as a Christian, there was another body waiting for her.
1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
A breath is too precious to be wasted in bitterness or anger.
Last breath of my father. We wasted so many breaths fighting.
Let’s not waste another breath, but use each and every moment to give Glory to God.

Break for Graveside?
Bro. Branham told us abut going on beyond the curtain of time:
And I heard Something say, “Would you like to see just beyond the curtain?” I said, “It would help me so much.”
And I looked. In just a moment, I…one breath I had come into a little Place that slanted. I looked back, and there I was, laying on the bed. And I said, “This is a strange thing.”
(Young men and women)
(90 year old convert)
And I stopped, and I looked. And I was young. I looked back at my old body laying there, with my hands behind my head. And I said, “I don’t understand this.”
...It was something that I have not got the vocabulary, I haven’t got the words to say. “Perfection” wouldn’t touch it. “Superb” wouldn’t even touch it, nowhere. It was something that I never…You just have to be There.
And I heard a Voice then that spoke to me, that was in the room, said, “This is what you preached was the Holy Ghost. This is perfect Love. And nothing can enter Here without It.”
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
