Romans 15:4

Romans 15:4 “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”
These were written that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.
I heard a song a while ago of a mother who had dust on the Bible, I guess because she wasn’t able to read it anymore, but had it in her heart and mind! What great comfort we draw from the Scriptures! If neglected then what hope do we have or confidence that we would have in the Truth and Promise of Jesus Christ and eternal life that we have with Him!
Hebrews 10:32-39.........Do not cast away your confidence.....
Habakkuk 2:3-4 “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, But at the end it shall speak, and not lie: Though it tarry, wait for it; Because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: But the just shall live by his faith.”
These Christians had helped and struggled with those that was being persecuted.....even so much as having their properties seized, however they/we have a better possession and lasting one!!
Great reward........Saving/Preserving of the soul.
James 5:7-11........
The 2nd coming of Christ.....realizing that the glory awaits them at Christ’s return should motivate believers to patiently endure mistreatment!
Early and Latter rains....
Early........Oct. and Nov.
Latter.....March and April
Just as the farmer waits patiently from the early and latter rains for his crop to ripen, so must Christians patiently wait for the Lord’s return!
James is encouraging his brothers and sisters that were about to collapse under the pressure of persecution to shore up their hope in the 2nd return of Christ......It is near......
1 Peter 4:7 “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.”
Revelation 22:20 “He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”
Romans 13:10–12 “Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.”
