Just Don't Say Nothing

Just don’t say nothing Mark 9:6  Peter did not know what to say, because he and the others were so frightened.7 Then a cloud came and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!”

To begin with brothers and sisters Christian friends and well wishers and Saints of God it is an esteem honor as well as a privilege to speak expound and explain the next set of events as we come to a climax toward Easter. And for the record this is the second week in a row that the Lord has said to tell the church It’s better if you just be quiet. Church Just don’t say nothing.

The Holy Ghost has put me under a gag order. And the reason why is God says in Jeremiah 17 I the Lord try the hearts and God knows the content of characters. And what may appear one way may very well be an all together different big game. The Theme text in Mark 9: 6 says that “Peter! did not know what to say, because he and the others were so frightened.7 Then a cloud came and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!” Just Don’t say nothing. Sometimes we steeping all in mess that we don’t even have to engage in. All because we putting our own tow cents in it. Stay out it. I don’t know how I’m talking too, but you better listen. For your own good you better listen. Just Don’t Say Nothing.

Let’s delve,dive, and deal with the particulars of this case. This instance of the scripture deal with the story of Jesus’ Glorification, Illumination, and Transformation. Not to mention His transcendent Transient state of being. You got a minute? The bible says that in the 8th chapter of Mark Jesus had just finished telling Peter and his disciples that he was the Christ and that He would suffer and die and then three days later rise again. Peter jump up then and said no way Lord Ah Ah and Jesus went from saying blessed art thou Simon bojona to Simon Peter get behind me Satan. Simply put Peter was always putting his own foot in his mouth. Sometimes we ought not knee jerk at every situation because we may not know the long game. Because you playing checkers and them folk playing chess. You playing pity pat and they playing poker. And there are two pertinent fact from Mark 8 Jesus says Take up your cross and follow Me. Then who ever try to save their life will lose their life . The reason is you can’t save yourself. Only the Sovereign Saving Sanctifying Blood bought Power of Jesus Christ can save us. And the church said Amen. Then Mark 8 concludes with two things You can gain all kind of stuff and things but none of that will get you to heaven because you can’t buy your way in. Lastly Mark 8 sends a powerful potent prolific message and that is “If you’re shame to own me before men, then I’ll be ashamed to own you before My Father up in heaven.” It’s important because the Only ONE that can sign off on your paperwork is Jesus. I know I’m right about it because there is no other name under the heavens whereby men must be saved except the Name of Jesus.

Let’s go to Mark 9 And so Jesus says 9 Then Jesus said to the people, “I tell you the truth, some people standing here will see the kingdom of God come with power before they die.” That’s a future tensed metaphor which says no man knows the day or the hour when our Lord will come and take his souls away. So make sure your business is fixed with the Good Lord.

Six days later Jesus is going up into a mountain to pray to get away to have a staycation or some me time. And He takes Peter James and John with Him. Often times Jesus would take Peter James and John with Him and this occasion is no different. Verse 2 says that Jesus was Transformed before there very eyes. They were sore afraid And here we see a glimpse of Jesus’ Glory

1. There is the Glory of Jesus’ Personhood. Jesus was transfigured and translated which means that there was a metamorphosis. A metamorphosis is a change on the outside that actually comes from the inside. This Transient change by Jesus didn’t just reflect from the outside but it radiated from within. And for us in 2024 that means that Jesus transfigures our mind because Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Secondly Jesus transfigures us from Glory to glory because 2 Cor.3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. finally Jesus transfigures us because of the finished work He did on the cross at Calvary. Aren’t you glad Jesus died for your sins?

Then there is the Glory of Jesus’ Kingdom The Transfiguration was meant to teach Peter James and John and even us in 2024 that Jesus was Glorified even in Death. And that the Kingdom of Christ is a spiritual kingdom that separates the material world from the spiritual world and that When Jesus returns for His millennial Rule for a 1000 years Jesus will have His Kingdom right here on Earth.

Thirdly there is the Glory of Jesus’ Cross And the Transfiguration depict denotes and describes Jesus’ Suffering to manifest His Glory. Simply put Suffering and Glory goes together. Jesus Christ is our Suffering Servant therefore making Him our All Sufficient Savior. Because Jesus Redeemed Mankind by dying a vicarious ignominious and hideous death. he paid our sin debt in full and now Our redemption is final complete and permanent. preach Boy.

Then Finally there is the Glory of Jesus’ Submission in the Transfiguration. The Transfiguration again is the metomorphosis which is a change on the outside that comes from the inside . This Transfiguration and transformation is teaching us in 2024 that Jesus is Glorified (!when we take up our cross and follow Him). We must surrender our will to the will of God. And sometimes we have to suffer. Dr. MLK Jr. said unmerited suffering is redemptive. And Jesus says not cross no crown. First we suffer then we get Glory. And that’s why people who have been through some hard time say You looking at my Glory but you don’t know my story. I’ve been through hell and high water but thank God I made it.

I did a little research where in 2024 the Mount of Transfiguration is located. Anybody that know me knows that I like to study maps. I did very well in Geography in high school and college and post bacheloratee studies for my master’s. And so having thus said I found out that there is a Church that now on the very site of Jesus’ transfiguration, it’s called the Church of Transfiguration It’s a church that’s crowned with a snow covered top on Mount Tabor. This is where the earliest reports say that Jesus was on the mountain glowing Illuminating and the transient state of Glorification. Jesus was not dead but His body was transcendent effervescent. Yeah yeah yeah And

Peter saw this glorified Jesus With hair white like sheep wool . Eyes like balls of fire, feet like polished brass His robe looks like fire of a rainbow Looking effervescent and glowing and illuminating And Peter is looking at all of this!!! Wait nah Peter had also seen the adversity that Jesus had faced in his travels with Jesus,yet after seeing all of this Somehow! the true message got tangled and strangled. Somehow the message got twisted and turned around. And somehow the message of the transfiguration and transformation and metamorphosis got messed up. Let me give you an example you can raise all your children the same way and all of them will have a different philosophy on what mommy and daddy meant concerning life. Yes indeed.

Peter was sore afraid and when He saw Jesus being transformed and when the transfiguration had taken place Peter was so overwhelmed until He started to jibber jabbal .. UH UH UH Lord it is good for us to be here… And then when Peter saw Moses and Elijah Peter flipped out out. Peter freaked out and frantically said Lord we ought to build three tabernacles One for you One for Moses and One for Elijah.

Now listen to me When you don’t know what to say, Just don’t say nothing. I don’t have to have an answer for everything.

I’m not God Tell your neighbor: I ain’t God either

Listen to me even a fool is considered wise if he keeps his mouth closed. Because like I told you last Sunday a closed mouth catches no flies. Peter is talking all over his mouth. And brothers and sisters being nervous about a situation sometimes put people in precarious positions. Sometimes we say stuff we just ought not say.. And this week I just want us to remember to be cognizant of the measure of the message that we are conveying to others when they hear us speak.

The bible says that Jesus the Messiah was there Illuminating. Then Elijah who represented the Prophets who been dead hundreds of years was there illuminating and then finally Moses who represented the Law who been dead well over a 1000 years been been been dead Moses is there illuminating on top of Mount Tabor. The Poor disciples are frightenend out of their mind..

And Jesus is in the Middle of Moses and Elijah and Moses and Elijah are paying homage to Jesus. and Then Peter says out of fear anixeity excitement and just in an obtuse manner say Lord it’s good for us to be here. Let me and the disciples make three tabernacles three altars to honor all three of y’all… And all of a sudden it started thundering and lightning and God Almighty began to speak like clapping thunder. Let’s read the word of God again from the KJV and see how absent minded Peter was and then what God said to them look at

Mark 9:6 For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid. 7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. 8 And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves. God had to show Peter and the disciples not to minimize the significance of who Jesus really is. Just because you hang out with Him don’t mean you on the same level with Him. Because a week earlier this same Peter said thou art the Christ the Son of the Living God.How you go from knowing Jesus is the Messiah the Son of the the Living God to saying Moses and Elijah are more important than Jesus. Jesus did what Nobody else could do. Jesus lived died rose from the dead with All Power in His hands and Now sits on the Right Hand of God the Father interceding for you and I . And that’s a thank you Jesus moment.
