King James Version (2 Kings 4:1-2)
Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen. 2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.

1. This lady was running into a serious issue.

King James Version (2 Kings 4:1)
4 Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.
There was money that was owed and her husband was obviously the one who either brought in income or helped to bring in income and now he is gone and so the creditor is come to take away her sons as payment for the owed money.
What a tough situation. Your children to be taken from you.

2. We often run into serious issues.

What is it that you are facing?

What is it that the church is facing?
Is it in the family. Children. Grandchildren. Spouses. Brothers sisters. Sickness. Financial problems. Spiritual attacks. Addictions.
Dying churches.
The big thing is what is the answer to the problem?
What is the answer to the problem? Lets learn the lessons from this text in scripture.

3. The first thing we see is that she went to the right place to look for the answer.

She went to the man of God because she was seeking the voice and the help of God. God well always honour those that seek Him first and put Him first.
King James Version (Hebrews 11:6)
he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

4. The second thing we see is that she was asked a very important question.

What the house represents. It was her abode.
The answer to this question meant everything. She responds with the best answer she could.
King James Version (2 Kings 4:2)
2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.
All i got Elijah is a pot of oil! I dont think she relaized what she had.
She Might Have Been A Little Lady. But it does not matter the size of the vessel. What matters is what is in the vessel!
Man looks at the outward appearance. Man looks at the stature. God sees the gift and God sees the heart!
I ask the same question this morning. What do you have in your house. What does Grace Pentecostal Church have in its house.
Her answer was.

5. The third thing you see is that she was told to shut herself in.

English Standard Version (2 Kings 4:3-4)
3 Then he said, “Go outside, borrow vessels from all your neighbors, empty vessels and not too few. 4 Then go in and shut the door behind yourself and your sons
Here is the key to shutting herself in though. She was told what she was to bring in with her. God is saying to her here is what really matters. You dont need any distractions. You dont need any negativity. You dont need the one who always got a problem and got no joy speaking death over your situation. You definately dont need Jobs comfortors in with you.
In being told what she was to bring in with her she was also told what she was to leave outside. To shut the door on.

6. The fourth thing you see is that she was told to shut everything else out.

3 Then he said, “Go outside, borrow vessels from all your neighbors, empty vessels and not too few. 4 Then go in and shut the door behind yourself and your sons

Shut the door on everything that is going to be an hindrance to what I want to do.
Sin.
Root them out get them gone.
King James Version (Ephesians 4:22-32)
put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. 26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27 Neither give place to the devil. 28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. 29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good fto the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 30 And igrieve not kthe holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and pevil speaking, be put away from you, with all qmalice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, tforgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
Criticism & Negativity
Doubt and Unbelief
Jesus

And when Jesus came to the ruler’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion, 24 he said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him. 25 But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. 26

The devil.
Here is the problem.
Some churches try to shut themselves in but they bring in with them things that hinder the flow.
There is about to be a miracle. There is about to be oil everywhere. If she brought the wrong things in with her she might not have seen the miracle.
When she realized what she had. When she shut herself in and brought in only the things that truly truly mattered. When she began to pour out there was oil everywhere.

7. The fifth thing you see is that she was told to start pouring out.

3 Then he said, “Go outside, borrow vessels from all your neighbors, empty vessels and not too few. 4 Then go in and shut the door behind yourself and your sons and pour into all these vessels.

8. The sixth thing you see is that she was told to keep her focus.

” 3 Then he said, “Go outside, borrow vessels from all your neighbors, empty vessels and not too few. 4 Then go in and shut the door behind yourself and your sons and pour into all these vessels. And when one is full, set it aside.”

Dont even answer the door during this time. Things will knock and try to get in but you got brought in what needs to get in.

5 So she went from him and shut the door behind herself and her sons. And as she poured they brought the vessels to her. 6 When the vessels were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another.” Then the oil stopped flowing. 7 She came and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on the rest.”

9. The final thing you see is that she was obedient and got the victory and lived in that victory for rest of her life.

While there is an empty vessel the oil will not stop flowing for the church who shuts itself in.
