We love to quote the verse, “Resist the devil and he will run from you” (Jas. 3:7). But that is the second of two commands in verse seven. The first is, “Submit yourselves therefore to God.” The love of sin must be replaced by the Lordship of Christ in every area if Satan is to be driven away. Where is that one secret area of un-commitment? Mark this—it will ruin you one day.
It seemed that Samson was always just half way committed to what God was calling him to be. It seemed that he always had something he wanted to do. And just wouldn’t wholly commit to God.
Samsons life is a great example of the slippery slope of serving God halfway.
