Thank you also to Pastor Jeremy and the team at Faith for hosting the Good Friday service so that other Fellowship Baptist Churches in Vancouver can be a part of it.
Introduction
If you have your Bible, then please turn to Revelation 5. Thank you, Pastor Bryan, for reading the whole chapter so that we can grasp the context. The message is focused on verses 9-10.
Illustration
The text that we have read has a lot to do with what theologians call, “Eschatology.”
It means the study of end times.
There is a lot of discussion surrounding Eschatology and the interpretation of Revelation.
My job this morning is not to get into the debate.
My job is to unfold the text and help us to see the significance of Jesus’ death.
And the significance of His death is that it makes Him worthy.
Context
It is important to establish the context.
The book of Revelation is an Apocalyptic Literature.
The Apostle John received the revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ through the angel. And John was to write down the things that must soon take place.
We can all at least agree that the world we are living in just seems to be getting darker and wicked.
Worthy in what sense?
Worthy to take the scroll from the right hand of the Father who sits on the throne. (v.7).
