LIVING FOR CHRIST AND DYING TO SIN.

THE QUESTION TODAY IS HOW MANY OF US ARE REALLY LIVING FOR CHRIST.
TOO MANY OF US HAVE ROB OURSELVES FROM THE FREEDOM THAT WE HAVE IN CHRIST JESUS, BY ALLOWING SIN TO RULE IN OUR LIVES.
PAUL SAID THAT WE ARE DEAD TO SIN AND THAT WE SHOULD NO LONGER ENTERTAIN IT BECAUSE CHRIST HAS SET US FREE,
TODAY I LIKE TO TALK ABOUT
PRIVILEGES.
PLANTED.
POWER.
A. PRIVILEGES.
Romans 6:1–2 “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”
PRIVILEGES ARE UNEARNED ACCESS OR ADVANTAGES GRANTED TO SPECIAL GROUPS OF PEOPLE THAT ENJOYS SPECIAL FAVOR.
BECAUSE WE ARE GOD’S CHILDREN WE HAVE CERTAIN PRIVILEGES THAT A UNBELIEVER DOES NOT HAVE.
BUT WE SHOULD NEVER USE THESE PRIVILEGES AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO OCCASIONALLY SIN.
IF YOU HAVE BEEN TRANSFORMED BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD, YOUR LIFE HAS BEEN HIDDEN IN CHRIST.
SIN NO LONGER SHOULD HAVE CONTROL OVER YOU , BECAUSE YOU ARE DEAD TO IT.
WHEN CHRIST DIED, YOU DIED WITH HIM, AND THE OLD LIFE THAT WAS CONTROL BY YOUR FLESH WAS FUNERALIZED.
PRIVILEGES COMES WITH RESPONSIBILITIES. AND OUR RESPONSIBILITY IS TO LIVE FOR CHRIST.
WHEN WE DON’T LIVE FOR CHRIST, WE FRUSTRATE HIS GRACE.
THE LORD FREED US FROM SIN, SO WE DON’T BE ENSLAVED TO IT. MEANING LETTING SIN BE OUR MASTER.
Colossians 3:3 “For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”
SIN CAN’T GET TO ME IF I AM LIVING IN THE SPIRIT.
B. PLANTED
Romans 6:5 “For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:”
TO BE PLANTED IS TO BE CONNECTED OR BELONG TO CHRIST.
HOW WAS WE PLANTED IN CHRIST JESUS? WE WAS PLANTED IN CHRIST JESUS THE MOMENT WE ACCEPTED HIM AS OUR LORD AND SAVIOR.
WE WAS BAPTIZED INTO HIS DEATH.
WE NEEDED GOD TO PUT TO DEATH THOSE THINGS THAT WAS KEEPING US AWAY FROM HIM, SO THAT THE CHRIST LIFE IN YOU WOULD RESURRECT TO REFLECT HIS CHARACTER.
THAT’S WHY PAUL SAID IN 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are past away; behold, all things are become new.”
THAT’S WHY WE SHOULD LIVE LIVES THAT HAVE BEEN RESURRECTED, BECAUSE THIS IS THE LIFE THAT HAS EMBRACED CHRIST AND LEFT SIN BEHIND.
Colossians 2:12 “buried with him in baptism, wherein also you are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.”
C. POWER
Romans 6:11–13 “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.”
WHAT CAUSES US TO PROCESS THIS POWER OVER SIN?
IT’S WHEN OUR LIVES HAVE BEEN CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST AND WE ARE NO LONGER OUR OWN. WE HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO SUBMIT TO GOD, SO THAT WE DON’T FULFILL THE FLESH THEREOF.
WHAT WEAKEN OUR WALK AND TESTIMONY WITH CHRIST IS WHEN WE GIVE IN TO SIN.
THE MORE YOU GIVE IN TO SIN, THE MORE SIN WILL HAVE CONTROL OVER THE PART OF YOU THAT IS NOT SUBMISSIVE TO GOD.
AS A BORN AGAIN BELIEVER WE HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO CUT TIES TO SIN.
James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
WHEN YOU SUBMIT YOURSELF THEREFORE TO GOD, AND RESIST THE DEVIL, THE DEVIL WILL FLEE, BECAUSE HE IS SCARED OF GOD.
