She Caused That Much Trouble?

Luke 7:36 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat. 37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, 38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

To begin with brothers and sisters, Christian Friends, well wishers and saints of God as search and seek clarity on this sacred text, we find irreverence toward Jesus. The bible says those that honor a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward.I look at this glorious text and I discovered that sometimes people just won’t let you forget your past.

The bible says that Jesus was invited to dinner. And while lounging at the dinner table Jesus had a wonderful experience.Yeah Yeah Yeah it was wonderful and prophetic to Jesus. But to the person of the house!! He was upset. His guest were upset! and at some point even Jesus’ disciples were upset!Let’s delve deep down in the text and see why. The bible says in Luke 7:37 that a woman from the city. A woman of the night, A woman from the red light district. Finally a woman that was a prostitute came in the house. And she came prepared to be a blessing. Church I’m in the phase of life now days that I come to be a blessing. What did you come to be today? You should not only come to church to get blessed but I came to be a blessing. Because when you bless somebody else that stands in need of a blessing… God looks at what you’ve done and puts His stamp of approval on it. And when it’s your turn God knows how to bless you where you stand in need. The bible says if ye diligently seek God He will give you the desires of your heart.

This woman of the night has done some awful things. She’s not so proud of her life. She needs mercy....Because she’s guilty guilty guilty. She’s so filthy and guilty until she gets behind Jesus and she opens the seal on her alabaster box of perfume. And she starts crying and kissing Jesus’ feet yeah yeah yeah, She knows that Jesus is her only hope. And in 2024 Jesus is our only hope for a brighter day. Notice the text says in verse Luke 7:38 That shes weeping and then washing Jesus feet. And even before she pour out a whole pound of Perfume on Jesus feet, She prepares the blessing. She prepares the blessing through sorrow and grief, through pain and persecution, she prepares the blessing for Jesus through heartaches and heartbreaks, She has seen better days, she is hoping for a better future. She ‘s not pretending she knows that everybody else knoow that she’s a city woman a sexy sinner. and All the men in town have had their share with her. She knows she doesn’t have a leg to stand on, so she’s crying and weeping and sobbing and the tears are flowing down to Jesus’s feet. The tears are flowing to Jesus’ feet but they are not enough to adequately clean Jesus’ feet. And so what the text does not say is that she took out a little bottle filled with tears. Because in ancient culture in biblical antiquity people would shed tears and capture every tear by putting them in a bottle. Ans given the occupation of this dear woman she had a lot of reasons to cry and store tears. But it ain’t just that woman that has a lot of tears to be stored in a bottle. Oh church if I would tell the truth about it I have cried many tears and you too. And here’s the good news about this.God know every one of your tears by name. And God cares about every little or big detail concerning our lives. She’s weeping and crying and sobbing tears of pain and sorrow and she’s washing Jesus’ feet with her tears. And for the record just know this… God takes your tears and bring them to the Holy Ghost laboratory and examines our tears God goes down to the very DNA of our tears find out what the trouble is and then dispatch Angels to come and see about us. I know it’s true because the bible says While we are yet calling on God He’s answering our prayers. This woman in the text isn’t any different from us. because some of our sins are exposed and some of our sins are hidden but to God He sees everything. Jesus knew that his woman had real issues. And Jesus is letting her work it all out. Sometimes we just have to let it all out.. Just let it all out.

And so the bible says in verse 37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, 38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

The Pharisee who had invited Jesus began to be indignant within himself. If Jesus were truly a man of God, If He was a preacher, if he was a prophet if he is a priest then He would know what kind of woman this is that he’s letting bother Him. Boy that’s hypocritical in nature. because the Pharisees were known for saying one thing and then turning around and doing something else. So in essence the Pharisee ain’t got room to talk about nobody. You know what I hate? I hate when people try to say how I’m no good and then if you get the key and open their closet door a whole lot of skeletons will fall out. The Pharisee is saying don’t Jesus know what kind of woman this is. I was in the NBCCCEd in Dallas and I had some money to buy me a robe from the convention. And I saw this woman pushing a trash cart with cleaning supplies on the cart.I saw her go in the women’s bathroom cleaning then I saw her go in the men’s bathroom cleaning. She had all of her proper signs up while cleaning. And while working on my Sunday sermon in between classes I observed this woman. Nobody acted like they noticed her. Nobody was speaking to her and everybody in the convention center was acting like she’s just the help. So II stopped working on the sermon and the Lord said go give her $700 dollars … I said whatttttt? That my money for my robe.... I went over to her and I told her that the Lord wanted me to bless her and that He’s a present help in the time of trouble. I gave the woman $700 dollars and she broke down and cried. I cried too. and she said MR. You just don’t know they was about to out me out of my apartment and me and my kids were going to be homeless. She said my baby daddy beat me up and I called the po po and now he in jail.. So I didn’t have no way out!!!! And so we prayed and it felt good to be a blessing. I went on with my sermon and cut it real short. So the next day I was walking through the convention center and the woman was with some other house keepers and she said MR MR MR. Wait a MINUTE She said y’all this the angel that God sent to deliver me from being homeless. Ain’t God alright.

I said that to say this, You don’t know what people are going through sometimes. Because the woman in the text broke open and whole alabaster box full of perfume and anointed Jesus’ feet. She gave all she had. and God honored her. God had honored her through the centuries but this story is still a tear jerkier. This story still stirs the heart towards righteousness.

I’ve had some good day and I’ve had some hills to climb I’ve had some wearied days and some sleepless nights but when I look around and I think things over All of my good days out weigh my bad days so I won’t complain God’s been good to me. There was a time when it seemed like I was never going to get better but Hang on in there because I’m a living witness, God will fix it after while.

The woman is in bad shape and Simon the Leper Simon Judas’ Daddy, Simon the Pharisee didn’t have compassion when he saw the situation. Then in another passage of scripture Judas jumped up and said what a wasted this costly ointment could have been sold for $50 or more dollars and Jesus said leave her alone. because she brings honor t me and she is preparing this for my burial. And she’s going to be remembered wherever this Gospel is preached.

Jesus said Simon in Luke 7:40 I have some thing to tell you. Simon said ok Master tell me what’s on your mind. Jesus said two men owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him 500 denarii, and the other 50 denarii. Neither one of them had the money to pay the moneylender back so the moneylender frankly forgive both. He canceled their debt. He zeros their balances out. And Jesus said so Simon which one of them will love him more? Simon said I supposed the one who had the biggest debt. Jesus said Simon you have judged correctly.. Listen to me , when God delivers you out of your delimna you ought to have a spirit of appreciation. And that spirit of appreciation ought to make you have a praise and a worship and a prayer that everybody knows that God has brought you up and out. Hallelujah.

Then the bible says in verse 44 Well Simon Do you see this po woman her sins are many Simon she tore up from the floor up but she came in doing the right thing. Simon I’ve been to your house a while now and you didn’t give me water to was my feet, or a towel to dry them off with But this woman has not ceased from blessing me from honoring me from reverencing me. And Simon you wouldn’t even give me a brotherly kiss when I came into your house but this woman has nor ceased from kissing my feet. And Jesus looks at her and says daughter your sins are forgiven.. And the truth of the matter is that’s all the sinful woman wanted to hear Jesus say. I’m reminded that all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. And it ain’t no sense in pointing fingers at me when you got three fingers pointing right back at you and then you got your thumb pointed at God and so God is sovereign and He can do what he wants when He want to whomever He want and God can forgive you and I from our short comings Because God is too Right to be wrong,

too holy to be wicked,

too pious to be petty,

too compassionate to be contrary

too merciful to be mean,

too gracious to be gruesome,

too delightful to be devilish,

too kind to be conniving,

too Loving to be lewd. And too meticulous to make mistakes.

Brothers and sisters I’m trying to say is that God forgave the woman with many sins and God can forgive us too. It’s not an accident that you’re hearing this message because somebody here need to know that God care and He understands what you’re going through. And if you’ll just put your trust in the Lord everything will work out fine.

Sing Because I’ve had some good days and I’ve had some hills to climb, I’ve had some weary days and some sleepless nights but when I look around and I think things over All of my good days out weigh my bad days so I won’t complain.

God Has been good too me.....
