Introduction

I was reminded of the Jesus this week when he was in the garden of Gethsemane. He said if it be possible let this cup pass from me but never the less not my will but yours be done? Is it there another way Father? The Father's reply, was as it were Romans 3. There is none righteous, no not one. They have all gone away. There is none that seeketh after God. Jesus willingly went to the cross and it was The Father’s will that Jesus go to the cross to suffer for the sins of the people. He willing took the punishment and wrath of the Father for people who were his enemies. Because the Father foreknew every man and He would have to give them live to come to him. God would have to call them to come. Jesus would call His sheep and they would hear His voice and follow him. The Spirit would have to led them to repentance and faith.
Romans 8:31–34 KJV 1900
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

What shall we say to these things?(31)

We are guilty. We need a salvation.
We are justified by faith.
We have peace with God. (Romans 5:1)
We are freed from sin. (Romans 6:18)
Romans 6:18 KJV 1900
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
You see we were once slaves to sin.
The use here of the word sin literally means sin has become a slave-master that rules over ones life and death is the payment for that service.
We are in the jaws of death.
The other day I was watching birds on my bird feeder outside of my window. All of a sudden, out of the corner of my eye, there was a streak and then an explosion of feathers. It was a falcon catching a dove eating seed. The dove was caught in the claws of death and there was no escape for the dove. The dove was powerless to extricate himself from the falcon.
It is like that, we are caught in the clutches of sin that leads to death and we are unable to free ourselves.
But God, gives us new life and we are able to repent and believe.
We are bought with a price from the penalty of our sin and become a servant of righteousness.
This phrase, “ye became the servants” literally means the legal property of another and the another is God.
When that transaction took place.
When we were given new life, a lot of things happen in an instant and over the rest of our life here on earth.

What shall we then say to these things?

From Romans 3 to Romans 8 in an explanation of those things that happen to a new believer of will happen over the rest of there life.
We get the faith of Abraham that believes God.
We get peace with God.
We learn how it was God love for us while we were yet sinners, christ died for us.
We are freed from sin and death.
Sin has no more dominion over us.
But we still struggle with sin.
Paul says those thing which would not do are the things he does and the things he wants to do, he does them not. because there is sin present in him.
Paul cries out, “O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? He thanks God for the deliverance that is through the Lord Jesus Christ. Even when we discover that we serve the law of God with our mind, but we serve the law of sin with the flesh.
We have no condemnation because with the new life we are given the ability to follow the Spirit.
FOLKS, WE HAVE NO CONDEMNATION when we walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh.

What shall we then say to these things?

We became debtors not to the law of sin and death but to the Spirit and life.
Those who are lead by the Spirit are the children of God.
Wait! What! Is that really what happens when we are given new life?
We were enemies of God and now we are seated at he table as children!

What shall we then say to these things?

If God be for us,...

Let me remind you of the preceeding verses.
Romans 8:28–30 KJV 1900
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
verse 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities … but he Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered.

We must ask ourselves this question, Is God for me?

The believer can say, yes!
Yes, God gave me new life.
Because they can look back on their life I can see the hand of God there, and I can see Providence there, and God’s care there.
The believer can say God is for me, who can be against me?

Who can be against you if God is for you?

The One who uses words and the whole universe come into being is for me.
The One who gave me new life and I repented and believed the gospel is the One who is for me.

We must, also, ask think about the other part of this. If there are people that God is for, then there must be people that God is against.

There are those whom God is against.
If you see yourself as one of those that God is against then cry out for mercy.
Who can stand against the One who uses words to bring the universe into being simply by speaking it?
John 3:16 KJV 1900
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
You see, it is your unbelief that is in the way.
Cry out for mercy today before it is to late.
Romans 8:32 KJV 1900
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

He spared not His own Son...

When Jesus was in the garden
Matthew 26:36–39 KJV 1900
36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. 37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. 38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. 39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
God’s answer to the Son was, We promised to redeem. We promised.
It was our agreement that this was the only way to redeem them and We promised.
You understand that the gospel started with God and it is through the Son’s death on the cross to take the wrath full wrath and punishment for sins that any of us are given new life.

Salvation for God’s wrath is only available because, He spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all.

Romans 8:32 KJV 1900
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

How shall he not also freely give us all things?

Is there anything greater than giving His own Son for our forgiveness?

What more could be done?

What will He hold back for our good?

Anything we need for our good is of much less value than the Son.
I want to be reminded that for our good may not be for our ease.
It may not use easy to get the good.
In fact, many thing for our good are downright hard but it is for our good.

Application

Christian, be encouraged God is for you.
Unbeliever, God freely offers eternal life but you must repent and belief the gospel.
You must give your life to Him.
