One of the recurring themes in the Bible is a person or a people engaging in a trusting relationship with the Lord, and at some point along the way, their circumstances cause them to forget the miracles that God has already done and want to revert to trusting their own knowledge and abilities. One could argue that the third biggest purpose of God’s Word is to get us to begin a relationship with God, and the second would be to keep it.
