“Certainly there is a mine for silver And a place for refining gold.
“Iron is taken from the dust, And copper is smelted from rock.
“Man puts an end to darkness, And to the farthest limit he searches out The rock in gloom and deep shadow.
“He sinks a shaft away from inhabited areas, Forgotten by the foot; They hang and swing, away from people.
“From the earth comes food, And underneath, it is turned over like fire.
“Its rocks are the source of sapphires, And its dust contains gold.
“No bird of prey knows the path, Nor has the falcon’s eye caught sight of it.
“The proud animals have not trodden it, Nor has the lion passed over it.
“He puts his hand on the flint; He overturns the mountains at the base.
“He carves out channels through the rocks, And his eye sees anything precious.
“He dams up the streams from flowing, And brings to light what is hidden.
“But where can wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?
“Mankind does not know its value, Nor is it found in the land of the living.
“The ocean depth says, ‘It is not in me’; And the sea says, ‘It is not with me.’
“Pure gold cannot be given in exchange for it, Nor can silver be weighed as its price.
“It cannot be valued in the gold of Ophir, In precious onyx, or sapphire.
“Gold or glass cannot equal it, Nor can it be exchanged for articles of pure gold.
“Coral and crystal are not to be mentioned; And the acquisition of wisdom is more valuable than pearls.
“The topaz of Cush cannot equal it, Nor can it be valued in pure gold.
“Where then does wisdom come from? And where is this place of understanding?
“It is hidden from the eyes of every living creature, And concealed from the birds of the sky.
“Abaddon and Death say, ‘With our ears we have heard a report of it.’
“God understands its way, And He knows its place.
“For He looks to the ends of the earth; He sees everything under the heavens.
“When He imparted weight to the wind, And assessed the waters by measure,
When He made a limit for the rain, And a course for the thunderbolt,
Then He saw it and declared it; He established it and also searched it out.
“And to mankind He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to turn away from evil is understanding.’ ”

28 Surely there is || a vein for the a silver,
And b a place for gold where they c fine it.
2 Iron is taken out of the || earth,
And brass is d molten out of the stone.
3 He setteth an end to darkness,
And searcheth out e all perfection:
The stones of f darkness, and the g shadow of death.
4 The flood breaketh out from the inhabitant;
Even the waters h forgotten of the foot:
They are dried up, they are gone away from men.
5 As for i the earth, out of it cometh bread:
And j under it is turned up as it were fire.
6 The stones of it are k the place of l sapphires:
And it hath || dust of gold.
7 There is a path which no fowl knoweth,
And which the m vulture’s n eye hath not seen:
8 The o lion’s whelps have not trodden it,
Nor the p fierce lion passed by it.
9 He putteth forth his hand upon the || rock;
He overturneth the mountains by the roots.
10 He cutteth out q rivers among the rocks;
And his eye seeth every precious thing.
11 He bindeth the q floods † from overflowing;
And r the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.
12 s But where shall t wisdom be found?
And where is the place of t understanding?
13 Man knoweth not the u price thereof;
Neither is it found in x the land of the living.
14 y The depth saith, It is not in me:
And the sea saith, It is not with me.
15 † It z cannot be gotten for a gold,
Neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.
16 It cannot b be valued with the c gold of d Ophir,
With the precious e onyx, or the f sapphire.
17 The gold and the crystal cannot g equal it:
And the exchange of it shall not be for || jewels of fine gold.
18 h No mention shall be made of || coral, or of hh pearls:
For the price of wisdom is above i rubies.
19 The j topaz of k Ethiopia shall not g equal it,
Neither b shall it be valued with pure c gold.
20 l Whence then cometh wisdom?
And where is the place of understanding?
21 Seeing it is hid from the eyes m of all living,
And kept close from the fowls of the || air.
22 n Destruction and death say,
We have heard the fame thereof with our ears.
23 o God understandeth the way thereof,
And he knoweth the place thereof.
24 For he looketh to the ends of the earth,
And seeth under the whole heaven;
25 To p make the weight for the winds;
And he weigheth the waters by measure.
26 q When he made a r decree for the rain,
And a s way for the lightning of the thunder:
27 Then did he see it, and || declare it;
He prepared it, yea, and searched it out.
28 And unto man he said, Behold, t the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom;
And u to depart from evil is understanding.1

Revelation From God
Author
The author of the Job in unknown, there are those that believe Moses penned it, or possible Elihu the forth friend of Job. As the language and possible date of the writing leads to Abraham time frame, the author could be Enoch.
Date
The book of Job is one of the earliest known writings, dating to an Abraham time frame. Job’s wealth is measure in live stock as was Abraham, Issac and Jacob. The Hebrew word for Almighty, Shaddai, is used for YHWH throughout the book of Job, which is only otherwise found in Genesis and the Book of Enoch, thus placing the writing in same time frame as Enoch and Genesis.
History
The Book of Job is set in the Abraham time frame as Job's wealth is measured in livestock (Job_1:3; Job_42:12), the same way Abraham and Jacob's wealth are measured (Gen_12:16; Gen_13:2; Gen_30:43; Gen_32:5). (2) The Sabeans and Chaldeans are portrayed as nomadic marauders (Job_1:15, Job_1:17), indicating an early date. (3) The Hebrew word for piece of silver in Job (Job_42:11) is otherwise found only in conjunction with the patriarch Jacob (Gen_33:19; Jos_24:32). (4) Without a priesthood or a sanctuary, Job offered sacrifices to God in a patriarchal fashion (Job_1:5). (5) Job's longevity is consistent with the life spans of the patriarchs (Job_42:16). (6) The preference in the poetic sections of the book for the divine name Shaddai over the divine name Yahweh may indicate a period before the Exodus (Exo_3:14-15). The text indicates that the events of Job occurred in the land of Uz (Job_1:1), but the location of Uz is unknown. That Job was the greatest among the people of the East (Job_1:3) indicates that Job lived east of the Jordan River. Some have concluded that Uz was located in Syria or northwest Mesopotamia. However, most writers think Uz was located near Edom, because many of the proper names in the Book of Job occur in the genealogy of Esau, the father of the Edomites (Gen. 36).1
