1 Corinthians 11:23–26 ESV
For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
For their to be a covennat, there needs to be 3 main components;
A promise
Terms;
A Shed of Blood
Shed of Blood = That’s Jesus Blood on the Cross - poured out for you;
Terms; If you call on the name if Jesus Christ, you will be saved.
Promise;
Ezekiel 36:26–27 ESV
And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.
a new Heart and a New Spirit - See when a covenant takes place an exchange needs to take place - We get what Jesus has, and Jesus gets what we had.
Jesus got our Sin - to which He Died on a cross for - to the point where he felt seperated from teh father,
and what do we get? A new heart ,that reflects that of the father - and the Holy Spirit to live within us.
More importantly, we get Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ gets us.
As you take communion - I want you to reflect on what He has done - He took on the wrath of God because of our Sin in exchange that you might accept him t be forgiven and have Eternal life -
So bring it to the cross.
