The Tomb is EMPTY!!!

IMPOSSIBLE TASK
Lexham Context Commentary: New Testament The Empty Tomb and the Angel (28:1–7)

The appearance of the angel like lightning and shining like bright snow with accompanying earthquake causes the Jewish guards to be greatly afraid, and they become like dead men—possibly indicating that they have passed out. There is a humorous irony in this description, as the soldiers were set to guard a dead man, and now they are acting like dead men.

Death has transferred from Jesus to the guard
Jesus was a picture of meekness and humility who was seemingly easy to put to death===and these guards were a picture of the baddest meanest taking care of business dudes who bring death to any enemy of their king......how the tables have been turned to reveal truth
they were here to watch a dead body and now they lay so scared they are as dead men
still to this day; the rumor of the disciples stealing the body, even 100 years later it was being said, here is a quote from Justin Martyr to Trypho who was a jew “ And though all the men in your nation knew the incidents in the life of Jonah, exhorting you to repent of your wicked deeds, at least after He rose again from the dead, and to mourn before God as did the Ninevites, that your nation and city might not be taken and destroyed; yet you have not yet repented after you learned that He rose from the dead. Moreover, as I said before, you have sent chosen and ordained men throughout all the world to proclaim that a godless and lawless heresy had sprung from one Jesus, a Galilean deceiver whom we crucified , but His disciples stole him by night out of the tomb , where he was laid when unfastened from the cross, and now deceive men by asserting that he has risen from the dead and ascended to Heaven.”

SUFFICIENT

enough to achieve a goal or fill a need
the Guards are offered a large sum of money, guard was 12-60 men, they all had to agree
The enemy offers YOU a sufficient price…It will always sound good enough to achieve the purpose or the plan, that’s the goal of a lie.
The devil is trying to steal your soul and he is offering a sufficient amount, or a large amount. it is enough to keep you in the lie that everything else in your life is more important because your Sunday attendance, however often it is, is sufficient. Don’t listen to that preacher telling you to follow Christ more than you do now, your good,

WHAT IS YOUR PRICE CHURCH?

the Devil whispered in to the ear of Judas Iscariot, and 30 pieces of silver was sufficient for him to betray Jesus.

JESUS GIVES YOU ABUNDANT NOT SUFFICIENT

John 10:10 ESV
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
Jesus gives freely to those who call upon His name in faith a pure and cleansed soul Eph1:3-14,2:5-6,13-14
Ephesians 1:3 ESV
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,
Read The first 3 chapters of Ephesians, and if you don’t feel overwhelmed and convinced of His abundance for you then i will read it to you!!!

SATISFIED

pleased or contended here it means to stop someone by persuasion-KJV “persuade him and secure you”
adversary is good at making promises that sound good, because deception is a handy tool,
They offer a sufficient amount to the guards and they promise to satisfy the governor if he starts to ask questions. The opponent to the Spirit of God will always feed trouble so he can seemingly satisfy it!!
what happens when you eat? you get satisfied for a minute, but you get hungry again....he feeds trouble and guess what it gets hungry again....the devil cannot satisfy anything permanently, when you feel guilty or convicted or worthless satan tries to offer something that sounds satisfying to your flesh-ITS A TRAP!!! your flesh will get hungry again and again and.....
he offers to satisfy that which would bring judgement to them/you but all he can do is satisfy the wrath of the governor and NOT the wrath of God!!
when the wrath of God is what is troubling our consciences through guilt or shame etc…only the atoning sacrifice of Jesus can satisfy completely.
Jesus was the only truly sufficient offering that could satisfy the wrath of the only just God. Romans 6:10
Romans 6:10 ESV
For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.
1 Peter 3:18 LEB
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, in order that he could bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit,
Hebrews 7:27 LEB
who does not need every day like the former high priests to offer up sacrifices for his own sins and then for the sins of the people, because he did this once for all when he offered up himself.
Fifty-Two Invitation Illustrations (6. It Was Thought They Could Be Saved at Another Time)
The steamship Central American, on a voyage from New York to San Francisco, sprang a lead in mid-ocean. A vessel, seeing her signal of distress, bore down towards her. Perceiving her danger to be imminent, the captain of the rescue ship spoke to the Central American, asking, “What is amiss?”
“We are in bad repair, and going down; lie by till morning,” was the answer.
“Let me take your passengers on board now,” said the would be rescuer.
As it was night, the captain of the Central American did not like to transfer his passengers, lest some might be lost in the confusion, and, thinking that they could keep afloat some hours longer,as the ship seemed good enough he replied, “Lie by till morning.”
Once again the captain of the rescue ship called, “You had better let me take them now.”
“Lie by till morning” was sounded back through the trumpet. About an hour and a half later her lights were missed, and, though no sound was heard, the Central American had gone down, and all on board perished because it was thought they could be saved at another time.
