Mission - “Represent Jesus”
Why we do it…
Delivered / Transferred
We are ambassadors on this earth to share this message of deliverance
People matter!
I don’t want to just come to a building anymore…
A building is not a church…
People are the church
And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
The term "church" is translated from the Greek word "ekklesia," which means "assembly" or "called-out ones."
Ek-klay-SEE-ah
For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
People will produce “problems” or People have needs that have to be met
Problems need solutions
Solutions are produced or birthed by people
We were created with talents, abilities, and spiritual gifts to meet the needs of someone else
We are called to be a solution to someones need.
Solution: a means of solving a problem or dealing with a difficult situation.
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
Jesus “saw” the crowds…
Saw: to see v. — to perceive by sight or have the power to perceive by sight.
Perceive: become aware or conscious of (something); come to realize or understand.
Perceive: interpret or look on (someone or something) in a particular way; regard as.
Pause! When I am consumed with my own life, it will effect my perspective and cause me to miss my assignment.
Your assignment for life is based on what you “see.”
It’s hard for me to see others when I am consumed with seeing myself.
Repeat! Life is not about “ME”
even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
What do you see?
I have to see people through the correct lens…
I have to have a lens of “Compassion”
Compassion: to be deeply moved (bowels) v. — to be affected deeply in one’s inner being, especially in that aspect (the bowels) characterized by sympathy and compassion.
Bowels: the deepest inner parts or areas of (something).
When I have a lens of compassion I see problems with a different perspective…
Their problems affects me deeply and produces a passion…
Passion produces my reason why!
I was at Columbia Elementary of Friday…
I heard kids in 3rd and 4th grade singing “hands on your knees”
Bend that A over (baow), let that C breathe (yeah)
Shake that A, B, hands on your knees (ho)
Hands on your knees (ho), hands on your knees (ow)
Shake that A for Drake (yup), now, shake that A for me
“Jesus had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”
Harassed: to be afflicted v. — to be grievously affected. Troubled, bothered, or annoyed.
Helpless: to be rejected ⇔ be cast off v. — to be rejected, conceived of as being thrown away.
Jesus had deep sympathy.
Jesus teaches how People will produce your passion and assignment for life on earth!
Sympathy, is feeling pity or sorrow for someone else's misfortune but from a more distant perspective.
Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another person. It involves putting yourself in someone else's shoes, so to speak, and experiencing, to some degree, what they are feeling. Empathy can be emotional, where you physically feel the emotions of another, or cognitive, where you intellectually understand the situation and feelings of another person without necessarily sharing those emotions.
Like sheep bothered by wolves, lying down and unable to help themselves, and having no shepherd to guide and protect them.
They people wandering about with no spiritual guidance.
This is why our reason why is people!
When the assembly comes together… A group of people…
We are here to strengthen one another!
You are not alone……
