“Do Not Bring Sorrow to the Holy Spirit”

1. (V30) Do not bring sorrow to the Holy Spirit by the way you live

Christians must live differently than unbelievers

a) (V17) Live no longer like the Gentiles or the unsaved because they are hopelessly confused

When Christians act in a way that is ungodly they grieve the Holy Spirit who lives inside of them

The person who claims to be Christian and lives a life that is ungodly brings harm to the name of Christ and themselves

Reflect on how you treat one another at school, at youth group, how do you treat your parents or your siblings..

2. (V22) Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life

a) Stop telling lies, quit stealing, don’t use foul or abusive language, get rid of bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander

You can’t will yourself to give up bad habits, you ask God for help

3. (V23) Let the Spirit renew your thought and attitudes

a) Spending time reading and meditating on the Word will help to renew your thoughts and attitude

You get what you put into it

Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart

b) Some of you are walking with the Lord and others are struggling
