sentenced to a particular punishment, especially death.
? Why haven't we been sentenced to a punishment?
Prop:Jesus inst condemning
Trans: we will see this through the people and the Woman.
THE PEOPLE
THE PEOPLE
Some translations: THE EARLIEST MANUSCRIPTS DO NOT INCLUDE
There has been much debate over this text. The way I see it. God used the early churches to refine the Scripture we have today. So anything written that is written that isn’t in the Bible is not scripture.
2 Peter 1:20–21 “20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”
Prophecy = inspired utterance
2 Timothy 3:16–17 “16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 Early in the morning he came again to the temple. All the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them. 3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst
Mount of Olives = Jesus’ devotion place
Its easy to get impatient and discouraged and say your not listening so I give up. But he had the same mind as the Father.
9 The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some regard slowness, but is being patient toward you, because he does not wish for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
They brought a Woman caught in adulatory
Leviticus 20:10 “10 “If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.”
since it takes 2 to commit this sin where is the Man?
4 they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. 5 Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?”
The Law did demand that but if Jesus said stone her then Jesus could be in trouble with the Romans.
but if Hes says no He is guilty of going agent the law.
Ill: New pastor Showing up as a beggar
Tran: wow we have seen rejection but even then Jesus doesn't condemn the people.
The WOMAN
The WOMAN
6 This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. 7 And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground.
Jesus bent down and wrote in the dirt
and they hound him for a answer
John 8:7 “7 And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.””
Isaiah 53:6 “6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
It Is well know by everyone that everyone was a sinner Because of the Law
Jeremiah 17:9–10 “9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? 10 “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.””
I love how Jesus just is casualty writing in the dirt we don’t know what He writing.
but its fun to speculate
was it their sin
could it be the 10 commandments
Interesting Fact God wrote the 10 commandments with His finger
because as you look ate you see how sinful you are
Ex 20:3-17
You can’t have any Gods before me.
You cant make yourself a God
You must not take the Name of the Lord your God in vaine
Remember the Sabath
Honer your Father and Mother
You shall not Murder
You shall not commit adultery
you shall not steal
you shall not lie
you shall not desire what others have
We all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God
9 But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. 10 Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”
1 by 1 they all realized that non of them are worthy to throw a stone
I love what Jesus says where are they?
Has no one passed Judgment on you?
I love this because its obvious. but It s something we need as well.
Has people fallowed through with a Punishment on you
Jesus basically says I wont ether. why?
Do you deserve Judgment?
for the Judgment of sin is death so yes.
John 3:17–18 “17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”
Ill: 3 teen age boys decided to have some fun on the free way by throwing a frozen turkey out the window couple months latter they went to court. not just for the traffic violation but also for where that turkey ended up
I happened to hit a woman that was going 70 mph down the freeway in the face after maltibile surgerys some time in a coma
She asked the prosecutor to lesson the charges because she had forgiven them. but they were only able to get the reduced sentence if they pleaded Guilty
This is what God wants for everyone. that you would plead guilty And accept what His Son has done for you.
Tran:
Conclusion:
Conclusion:
Where are you on your forgiveness.
where are you as fare as passing judgment
? Why haven't we been sentenced to a punishment?
Prop: Jesus inst condemning
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
you Condemn yourself.
lets live in a way that shows our gratitude for what Jesus has done for us.
