The Lord has need of them

Who is “the lord?”

Matt 21:3

the one true God is the only creator

… sovereign ruler

…savior of his people

…his name is YHWH

… worthy of worhsip

Phil 2:5-8

Christ Jesus: who,

being in very nature God, (morphe theou) (inner essence of God)

did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather,

he made himself nothing (he humbles himself)

by taking the very nature of a servant, (morphe doulou) (inner essence of slave/servant)

being made in human likeness. (skemati= outer appearance)

worshipped for this: Matt 21:8, 9, Matthew 21:10 “When He had entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, “Who is this?””

v8 - they prep his way

v9 - they call him messiah

v10 & 11 - they fulfill scripture (he’s from branch town, Nazareth, he creates curiosity

Jesus baptism : cleansed, anointed (like David was to be king and Elijah was to be prophet)
