Last Luke 21: 7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed. 8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.

To begin with brothers and sisters, Christian Friends, Well Wishers, and Saints of God a little research suggest to us that after Jesus had completed the Mount Olivet Sermon in Matthew 24:1-25; then in Mark 13:1-37; and then finally in Luke 21:5-38 which is a rather lengthy Discourse of eschatological events. Meaning future events that were going to take place. Jesus’ teachings in the sermon were about wars and rumours of wars, speculations of future events, predictions of how Jerusalem would be destroyed and how Jesus’ disciples ought to be witnesses of the Lordship of Jesus Christ our Messiah and then for them “not to be afraid to give folk an answer where it’s needed” Simply because heaven and earth may pass away but God’s word will endure forever. Lastly that each and every one of us must be ready when the end comes. We’ve got to be ready when the Lord calls our name.

And so now we firmly know how we got to this Last supper before Easter Resurrection Sunday. The Bible says in Christ Luke 22:1 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover. 2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.

The scripture say that it was the feast of the Unleavened bread. And for the record the Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles were the three most important feasts on the Jewish calendar (Lev. 23); It was a requirement that all the Jewish men were expected to go to Jerusalem each year to celebrate (Deut. 16:16). The Feast of Passover and /or The Feast of the Unleavened Bread was significant because it was starched reminder of how God delivered the Children of Israel from the bondage of slavery from Egypt. The process was serious because if it wasn’t followed to the letter people would die. And every Israelite followed the Instructions from Moses and none of them died when the death angel Passed over Egypt Land. The Lord God Jehovah Adonai saved His people from destruction. and nearly a 1,000 years later the Jewish people are celebrating the Passover Experience.

And now in 2024 over 2,024 years later we celebrate that Jesus Christ has became the one time sacrificial Lamb of God that was slain before the foundations of the world, to save mankind from their sins.

But it’s important to mention for the record that during Jesus’ time the Jews had not stop sacrificing Lambs and rams and bullocks and goats. And the Passover Celebration called for a perfect unblemished Lamb to be sacrificed.

And Jesus in good faith honored the Feast of the Passover.Ask me Why ?Jesus said I didn’t come to do away with the Law of God but to fulfill it.Listen brothers and sisters you can’t say that you’re a good decent person and you won’t be a good citizen of the USA. First of all you got to follow God’s Word. Let me break it down for you, I love God. I follow His Word. I love my church. I love my country and I Love people of all races creeds and colors genders etc and I’ll help anybody in need. And that’s my stance on the matter

Then the bible says that Luke 22:2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people. And when I did the research I found out that the Pharisees, Sadducee's , chief priests, and scribes had plenty of reasons to hate Jesus. Jesus always told them about their wrong doing. Jesus was always exposing their sin. Jesus was always raining on their parade. So they wanted Jesus dead. But they’ve got a real problem. The huge crowds of people from all over heard Jesus in the temple and loved hearing His Truth. And I’d rather you tell me the truth because the truth will set you free. So they couldn’t kill Jesus the conventional way they needed a wicked plot that had an evil deed attached to it.

And the bible says in verses 3, 4 5 &6 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. 4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them. 5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. 6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

Let’s briefly unpack this text.

1. Satan entered Judas.

Tell your neighbor: Don’t let Satan In. Brothers and sisters if you let satan in all hell will break loose..

2. Judas was considered a friend because he was hand picked by Jesus Himself. Judas was one of the 12 original disciples.

3. If scripture say that Judas was going to betray the Son of Man then why hold Judas guilty. Well for one thing you can think whatever you want in your mind but Judas let things get to his heart. Judas took his jealousy to another level.

Verse 4 Judas went and found the Sanhedrin Counsel. They didn’t go looking for him!! You giving Judas a pass but it’s got some Judas’ that go out their way to do you dirty. ( If it hasn’t happened to you yet just keep on living). Another reason why Judas is so comfortable around the Sanhedrin Counsel is because his daddy Simon the Leper was on the board. And y’all remember how Judas and Simon and the disciples started tripping when the Prostitute came in anointed Jesus with a Pound of Expensive Perfume from her Alabaster Box right? So they’ve got reasons to betray Jesus.

And so here we are because Verse 5 says that they were glad to see Judas then verse 6 says that Judas was glad to provide the counsel with the perfect private perpetrated Crime around the Holiest Festival in Jewish History.

This is some kind of awful Because you people from within trying to get you not people from without trying to get you. It wasn’t no prostitute trying to get Jesus. It wasn’t no tax collector trying to get Jesus. It was no Centurion Soldier trying to get Jesus NO NO NO it was Judas and the religious leaders of the Sanhedrin Counsel Plotting and scheming on how to kill Jesus.

Well the bible says in verses 7,8, &9 That- Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed. 8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat. 9 And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?

It was necessary for the disciples to purchase and prepare the materials needed for the Passover feast and Judas had to have given them the money from the the money bag. Because Judas held the money bag.

And so Jesus told them what He wanted them to do, and they went. They were servants. In this church we are servants. And the disciples had to find a place in crowded Jerusalem where the feast could be held, and Jesus knew all of that.

So Jesus says 10 Jesus said to them, “After you go into the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him into the house that he enters, 11 and tell the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says: “Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover meal with my followers?” ’ 12 Then he will show you a large, furnished room upstairs. Prepare the Passover meal there.”.

And so Jesus sent Peter and John and they went and made important preparations. Peter and John had to secure the bread and bitter herbs, as well as the wine, for the feast.

Tell your neighbor:They had a job to do.

The disciples would have had to find a perfect lamb, and then have had the lamb slain in the court of the temple and then have the blood put on the altar. The lamb would be roasted whole, and then the feast would be ready. Once things were ready and prepared they they could have Kionia. Kionia in the Greek vernacular means fellowship. I like it because verse 13 says  “So Peter and John left and found everything as Jesus had said. And they prepared the Passover meal. Things go right when we follow God’s Plan. And the church said Amen.

And so for the record there were so many people were in The city of Jerusalem. Brothers and sisters Jerusalem must have had over 2 million people there. There were migrants and immigrate and travelers and pilgrims from all over the known civilized world. Every Jew of the diaspora was there to participate and celebrate the Passover feast.

And so Jesus is following Jewish tradition He’s ready to institute the Last Supper.. 14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. Our Lord and Savior is so compassionate and caring until He looks past out faults and bless us with our needs. The mere fact that Jesus sat down with the twelve apostles tell you He’s a Good God. Knowing their flaws… Jesus still sit down with them. Think about it.... I’ve taught you that God is basically 3 Powerful things 1. God is Omnipotent He’s got All Power, 2. God is Omnipresent He’s Everywhere at the same time and then finally GOD IS OMNISCIENT meaning that God knows about Everything. Everything so God knows our flaws. God the Son knew Peter cuss like a sailor. God the Son knew James and John were greedy for Power. God the Son knew that Nathaniel always had something negative to say. God the Son knew the John was so scary until he’d run clean out of his clothes in the garden of Gethsemane God the Son knew that Matthew was a crooked tax collector and God the Son knew that Judas Iscariot was a traitor, and yet and still Jesus sat down for the last meal of his earthly life with them.

And listen to His compassion in verse 15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: 16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. He knows he’s fixing to die a terrible,Ignominious, vicarious and hideous death and he began to speak in the future tense. To speak eschatological beyond their level.

17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: 18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. 19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. 20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

I’m honored to part take in the last communion with the Pilgrim Church before Easter Resurrection Sunday service because It’s the right thing to do.

Tell your neighbor :It’s the right thing to do.

It’s the right thing to do because some traditions should always be reverence and certainly communion ought to be. It’s the right thing to do because Jesus gave his body once and for all as a living sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. And It’s the right thing to do because Jesus shed His blood on Calvary for the remission of our sins and for the record without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins.

And the church said Amen.

21 But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. 22 And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed! I can’t help but want to sing the song Everybody play the fool sometimes no exceptions to the rule. Jesus could have been dirty and rotten and just when Judas dipped his hand in the dish with Jesus, Jesus could have just touched Judas’ hand and Judas could have dropped dead!!! But that wouldn’t be Jesus Christ the Messiah’s M.O. That actually sounds like Satan’s M.O. Because the devil come but to steal kill and to destroy and Jesus came that we have Life and have it more abundantly.

And the church said Amen.

23 And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

I’ve got to close here but just remember that God knows all about us. And so we have a choice whether to walk in holiness or to walk in wickedness. It’s our choice. We have Free Will. I’m through and I’ll pick this up during bible study.
