The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?

What is this verse talking about?

The true nature of our selfishness.

- When I was a lifeguard I taught swimming lessons to little kids

- I would tell the kids Do Not hit each other with the swim boards, but they would do the opposite and hit each other.

- No one had to teach any of us at a young age to disobey, it is our sinful nature.

2. Faith In Jesus

How Do We Guard Our Hearts?

Romans 10:9 ESV

because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

The Fact is, by myself I will never be able to guard my heart.

I have to turn over control of my heart to God.
