Hebrews Chapter 2

For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it

This is about doctrine. Truth!
You must first be hearing sound teaching. This is absolutely critical. It would profit you nothing to pay very close attention to falsehood.
You must then take it seriously and pay very close attention to it. We are all called to be theologians.
New American Standard Bible (Hebrews 2:3)
how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard,
Its interesting that the word neglect is used rather than reject. Could this be related to be “luke warm”?
So great a salvation. The offense is made so much worse and magnified in equal measure to the value of the gift!
For the creator of the universe to have gone to such great lengths to make a way for salvation only to have it be met with indifference or lazy disregard must be an incomprehensible offense to God.
These people had direct contact with eye witnesses. Apostles.
