Introduction `
We sing songs of prayer to the Lord to open our eyes and ears to see and hear him. To see and hear the Lord by the inspection of the Holy Spirit literally and spiritually in action from the Gospels. We also have many beautiful historical icons of Jesus, and many of us have come to the conclusion from scientific and historical evidence that the Shroud of Turin is the burial cloth bearing the facial image and full body image front and back of a crucified Jewish man, can be no other than of Jesu Christ of Nazareth at taken at the moment of his Jesus Resurrection from the dead. We are so blessed. But in our Gospel today, some Greeks had come to Jerusalem at the feast of Passover to worship God with the Jews. They found Philip, who has a Greek name and probably spoke Greek, and asked Philip if they could see Jesus.
Body
When Jesus hears their request, he does not say OK, bring them here, and let them see me. Instead, he tells Philip and Andrew how Jesus wants to be seen properly by everyone. To be seen lifted up. Jesus says in the Gospel, “When I am lifted from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.”
First and foremost, Jesus wants everyone to see him lifted up from the earth on the Cross. Not just to look at and feel sorry for a poor bloody man brutally Crucified, like “looky-loos” at the scene of a terrible car accident, thanking God it was not me. Instead, Jesus wants everyone to see him Glorifying God the Father on the Cross for loving everyone and dying on the cross to defeat the ruler of this world, Satan, sin, and death, and to heal everyone's souls who sees Jesus on the cross by faith.
Jesus wants everyone to see him lifted up from the earth, resurrected from the dead, alive and well. He was the Son of God Incarnate at his Crucifixion and remained the Son of God Incarnate after his resurrection.
Jesus wants everyone to see him lifted up from the earth and ascending to heaven, making way for everyone who desires to follow his path on earth to heaven at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
Conclusion.
And Jesus wants everyone to see him lifted up at the Altar of His Eucharist, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity to enter every heart to nourish and strengthen everyone to love Him and desire to become like Him, to love their neighbor, to see the face of Jesus in the poor, and the poor in Jesus, and to serve Him. Jesus wants everyone to see him lifted up from the earth so that all of us no matter in what circumstance we find ourselves today may see ourselves lifted in Jesus Christ, The Lord of heaven and earth. AMEN.
