1 Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along with me. 2 I went up because of a revelation and set before them (though privately before those who seemed influential) the gospel that I proclaim among the Gentiles, in order to make sure I was not running or had not run in vain. 3 But even Titus, who was with me, was not forced to be circumcised, though he was a Greek. 4 Yet because of false brothers secretly brought in—who slipped in to spy out our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might bring us into slavery— 5 to them we did not yield in submission even for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you. 6 And from those who seemed to be influential (what they were makes no difference to me; God shows no partiality)—those, I say, who seemed influential added nothing to me. 7 On the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel to the circumcised 8 (for he who worked through Peter for his apostolic ministry to the circumcised worked also through me for mine to the Gentiles), 9 and when James and Cephas and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given to me, they gave the right hand of fellowship to Barnabas and me, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. 10 Only, they asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.

What is more important People or Principles? (v1-5)
Galatians (Mentor Expository Commentary | MEC) Chapter 4: The Truth of the Gospel—1 (Galatians 2:1–10)
We are constantly reminded by our culture of the importance of ‘inclusion’ and ‘tolerance,’ as those terms are repeated with mantra-like regularity. A ‘big tent’ is thought to be mandatory. The problem is that if one’s ‘big tent’ is so big as to accommodate all points of view, then one doesn’t need a tent! Isn’t the point of a tent to separate oneself from the world? If the world is in the tent, you don’t need a tent. You’ve become the world.
Application: Your principles must come before people.
Yes, we love God and that helps us love people better. God’s way is actually better.
If your follow what God has said for your life don’t you think that it will help you love people better? Culture says the opposite

Question
Question
what is the gospel?
What are some good sections of scripture?
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. 7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. 8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 11 Therefore, whether it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
What sin looks like
10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; 11 no one understands; no one seeks for God. 12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” 13 “Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive.” “The venom of asps is under their lips.” 14 “Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.” 15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 in their paths are ruin and misery, 17 and the way of peace they have not known.” 18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
The consequences of Sin and the how
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
How again Romans 5:8
8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Your action
13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
The end result
1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Application
Application
Learn the gospel in order to speak it accurately. Don’t be afraid to practice what you believe in the household of faith.

Practical, they will add unnecessary actions to the faith. (v4)
You can see this in many places
Paul’s teaching
Paul’s teaching
is the same as the other apostles (v9, 2)
The first issue that may take in the NT is they put Paul up against Jesus. You can see when one person let me show you how this makes no sense
17 But in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse. 18 For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you. And I believe it in part, 19 for there must be factions among you in order that those who are genuine among you may be recognized. 20 When you come together, it is not the Lord’s supper that you eat. 21 For in eating, each one goes ahead with his own meal. One goes hungry, another gets drunk. 22 What! Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and humiliate those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I commend you in this? No, I will not. 23 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. 27 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself. 30 That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died. 31 But if we judged ourselves truly, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world. 33 So then, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for one another— 34 if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home—so that when you come together it will not be for judgment. About the other things I will give directions when I come.
You see that Paul is quoting what he had recived and teaching it. This shows that PAul’s teachings are in line with the teachings of the other apostles
Peter counted Paul’s teaching as equal
15 And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, 16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.
We must not give into this error. It is one that the world repeats often. We divide the Holy Spirit from Jesus.
Share with everyone, do not be a respecter of the betters (v6)
Share with everyone, do not be a respecter of the betters (v6)
This is a difficult temptation. Some need to share with the best of the best in our culture, but it is equally important to share with normal men and women.
Application: Walk with kings, but don’t loose the common touch. (lines up with Jesus who points this out about the Pharisees)
This error can be made in both directions. Some will only call the common man to repent, but never the king.
Some will only go to the kings and betters but never the common man.
These are the ditches on the side of the road, you must share with all. This doesn’t deny men’s station or nobility, it just states that all men must be saved!

Duties of Christians
We are saved to do good works (v10)
Law points to grace, and by grace you do works of the law.
Yes you have duties as a Christian to do. We care for the poor, the widow, the children. We keep the commandments of God, not for works but as worship. We love our nieghbor
