The journey is over.
The journey is over.
Can you imagine the relief of knowing the journey you have been on is over? Our text this morning with some of the OT quotations you are used to hearing, if you grew up in church, were those indicating the long awaited journey to Jerusalem and Passover was over.
Just because the journey is over doesn’t mean the work is done.
Just because the journey is over doesn’t mean the work is done.
Though many of the travellers would have been ecstatic to see Jerusalem the work of preparing for the Passover would just begin.
The Words of worship—Hallel Psalms (113-118; 120-136; 146-150).
The Words of worship—Hallel Psalms (113-118; 120-136; 146-150).
These are the Psalms the Jew would have been reciting during this week and up until the time of Good Friday. We see the quotation of one of those Psalms in our present text.
Lord, save us!
Lord, grant us success!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
From the house of the Lord we bless you.
We need to praise the Lord!
We need to praise the Lord!
These Psalms and the words of our text are needed reminders of our need to recognize who Jesus is. The words of praise can be anticipatory in realizing what will happen. The words of praise can be revelatory, what we need to hear. The words of praise can be descriptive, telling what has been done.
We must see Jesus as the true King.
We must see Jesus as the true King.
The entry is very similar to what other kings would do. Cloaked in this text is Zechariah 9.9-10 which early Christians see Jesus fulfilling. Though He is king the final battle was not completed yet. Even in Zechariah there was to be one more battle, if I understand it correctly, before there would be peace.
Enthusiastic praise must lead to depth of faith.

The crowds proclaim, though let’s be honest it probably wasn’t that “big” of a crowd, at least not for Mark; who Jesus is but I am not certain they really understood what was being said. The crowds do not realize what they are saying in connection to who Jesus is. This may be us at moments in worship and live. I know that has been true for me.
We must allow all we have be at his disposal.
We must allow all we have be at his disposal.
People took whatever they could find to pave the way for Jesus. What would we bring?
May we let Jesus save us!
May we let Jesus save us!
yes this is about Salvation but it is more than that.
