Dear friends, although I was eager to write you about the salvation we share, I found it necessary to write, appealing to you to contend for the faith that was delivered to the saints once for all. 4 For some people, who were designated for this judgment long ago,, have come in by stealth; they are ungodly, turning the grace of our God into sensuality and denying Jesus Christ, our only Master and Lord.
1.Contend for the faith
The Greek verb used here, epagōnizomai, occurs only this one time in the nt. The word comes from another verb, agōnizomai, which refers to ancient Greek athletic contests in which participants “contended” (compare 1 Tim 6:12). 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
battle the battle” or “serve as a soldier in warfare” or, more generally, “perform military service
The wording is typically a patriotic warfare idiom for good character revealed by persevering through not merely one battle but military campaigns extending over a period of time.

Honorable Service

We should be operating in a way that future generations say....They Battled the battle. they fought the fight
We praise people who battle the battle: Even when success looks like an L

The faith we have wasn’t some kids bop version:
Jesus paid the price for our sins one time:
5–7 In this section, Jude recalls three examples from the ot. Each of these examples highlights a particular aspect of the false teachers’ errors:
1. They practiced the sin of unbelief (Jude 5),
2.they sought authority they did not deserve (v. 6),
3and they engaged in immoral behavior (v. 7).
Jude 1:5 Now I want to remind you, although you came to know all these things once and for all, that Jesus saved a people out of Egypt and later destroyed those who did not believe;
Cor10 For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, 2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 and all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ.

How do we contend for the faith?
5. Now I want to remind you: Jude pulls back on what God has done in times past to begin building his case. (What is true?)Remember has happended and the scriptures
Rock climber, video game
(Remember) 1. You came to know (You were called) Married in Jesus what was theroy for me was fact for God
(Remember)Jesus saved a people out of Egypt
(Jesus)While some manuscripts read “the Lord,” the earliest manuscript evidence favors an original reading of “Jesus.” If this is the case, Jude specifies that the preexistent Jesus was present throughout the exodus deliverance (see 1 Cor 10:4), perhaps as the Angel of Yahweh (see note on Exod 23:20).
Exod 23:20 “Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared. 21 Pay careful attention to him and obey his voice; do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgression, for my name is in him. 22 “But if you carefully obey his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.
1 cor 10 1-6 For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, 2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 and all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ. 5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 6 Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did.
(Remember)the angels Jude 6 . 2. Punishment—v. 6. Angels were punished!
Jude 6 ESV
And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day—
God rewarded their unfaithfulnes
Abandond their position of authority
(Remember) Sodom Perversion—vv. 7–8. Sodom destroyed because of sin.
7  Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns committed sexual immorality and perversions, and serve as an example by undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.

By sight arguments: Well to me, In my opionion, the way I see it, well my truth
2 cor 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.
1 Cor 2:1-4 And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. 2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, 4 and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
Becarful beloved when it must all make apease your reason (because you can suttley shift the Lord out of the Lordship seat and place your lil hind parts in a chair that was not made for you)
Thirty-two passengers and crew died.
20 But you, dear friends, as you build yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting expectantly for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life. 22 Have mercy on those who waver; 23 save others by snatching them from the fire; have mercy on others but with fear, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh. 24 Now to him who is able to protect you from stumbling and to make you stand in the presence of his glory, without blemish and with great joy, 25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority before all time, now and forever. Amen.
The Christian is to resist the spirit of the world. But when we say this, we must understand that the world-spirit does not always take the same form. So the Christian must resist the spirit of the world in the form it takes in his own generation. If he does not do this, he is not resisting the spirit of the world at all.
If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved, and to be steady on all the battlefield besides, is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point.
