Introduction:

Good Morning. Today we are going to be continuing who our God is this morning. last week we talk about our God is Immutable, our God is a Spirit, our God is invisible, and our God is Eternal. this week we are going to be looking at our God is Holy, Our God is Righteous, and Our God is Just. it really comes down to the more we learn about who our God is, the more we will be able to understand being who we worship.

Our God is Holy:

today’s people live a worldly lifestyle, and they no longer hide certain things about their life, as Christian’s we come understand that our life is no longer our’s but God’s. As Christians we come to understand that our God is Holy. God has a standard for himself and for us his people. turn in your Bibles to 1st Peter 1:15-16
1 Peter 1:15–16 NKJV
but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
From these two verse here from the letter Peter wrote, we see that Peter is explaining to the early church that they need to separate themselves from worldly conduct. they needed to be Holy, they need to be different people in the world and not part of it, because we see at the in of verse 16 here Peter quotes from Lev 19:2
Leviticus 19:2 NKJV
“Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.
from this verse here in Leviticus we see that God is talking to Moses, and he is telling Moses to go and tell the people of Isreal this. “You shall be Holy, For I the Lord your God am Holy. God has given his people a standard to live by, meaning that they should live in the world but not be conform to it. another verse we can look at, comes from Eph 1:4
Ephesians 1:4 NKJV
just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
Let’s take a moment and think about this verse here in Ephesians, if you think about verse 4 God chose us before the foundation of the world. Many of us lived a worldly life before coming to christ. some of us may have been a Christian , and walk away from God because of our life choice, and believing that don’t qualify to God’s standards of living. The true is world tells us that we’re okay with God, we don’t need to try. at the end of day we have to decide on how we are going to live. As study and as we grow as christian’s we come to realize God has a standard how he wants his people to live, He wants them to be Holy like him, not part of this world. 1st John 2: 15-17
1 John 2:15–17 NKJV
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
when people decide to become christian’s we separate ourselves from the world, we understand we no longer love the world, we find ourselves understanding that our God can not be Holy without being Righteous, this will lead us to our next point for today.

Our God is Righteous:

Our next point for today is Our God is Righteous, what does mean to be Righteous? Righteous means (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous. we worship a God who know what is best for mankind, yet sometimes we act like spoiled children when comes to this life Let turn in our Bibles to Psalm 145:17
Psalm 145:17 NKJV
The Lord is righteous in all His ways, Gracious in all His works.
From this Psalm by David we see that David sings about how God’s ways are always righteous, or right for mankind, and we can also take note here about how God’s is Gracious in all of his work towards mankind. when it comes to God being Righteous there is no evil, no darkness, no corruption in God. we can see that throughout the Bible. lets turn in our Bibles to 1st John 1:5
1 John 1:5 NKJV
This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
throughout the Bible there is a theme the contrast between Light and dark, Good verses evil. right and wrong. most of the time when things go wrong in our life we want to blame someone or something because we do not understand. usually most people who live in the world and do not know God will blame God for all the evil and wrong that goes on in the world. we can also look at Jam 1:17
James 1:17 NKJV
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
From James we come to understand that God Provides of his people, because if you remember from last week we talk about how he does not change. God continues to provide things that are needed, God is a being of light. we can also see that from Psalm 119:105.
Psalm 119:105 NKJV
Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
We see from this verse here in Psalms that God in his righteousness provides guidance those who seek him out, to those that wish to know the creator of the world, to learn to live in his ways. turn in your Bible to Psalms 119:137
Psalm 119:137 NKJV
Righteous are You, O Lord, And upright are Your judgments.
From this verse here in Psalm we see that the author understand that when God does something its going to be Righteous, and upright. As Christians we need to understand that God’s ways are going to be better than how we want to live, and we can see that as we grow by studying God’s word we begin to see God’s righteousness throughout the Bible. turn in your Bible to Psalm 25:8
Psalm 25:8 NKJV
Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore He teaches sinners in the way.
From Psalm 25 we see that God’s way’s are good, and upright, there no bad or unjust with God, we can also see that God wants us to learn in his ways, because his ways are better for us as Christians, as people in general, because our God is Righteous, always right. How can our God be righteous if he not Just. which leads to our next point

Our God is Just:

with understanding that our God is Righteous, we as christian’s also understand that with Righteousness there also has to be justice. with that in mind, we come to understand that Our God is a Just God. Our God is a fair God, who does everything accordingly to being just. the first biblical example of today is Deut 32:4.
Deuteronomy 32:4 NKJV
He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.
We see here in Deuteronomy we see that Moses is leading a song of praise to God. in this song we see that how it describes the Lord and about his ways are Justice, Our God is always true, there is no injustice found in our God, Because our God is always Right Acts 10:34-35.
Acts 10:34–35 NKJV
Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.
Just from these two verses here in Acts we see that Peter points out that God shows no Partiality to anyone. God never played favorites with his people. if we continue with Acts chapter 10:34-35 in the second verse we see that Peter explains that to whomever fears God works in righteousness, will be accepted by God. another thing to point out about how are God is Just turn in your Bibles to 1st Corinthians 10:12-14
1 Corinthians 10:12–14 NKJV
Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
From this passage here in 1st Corinthians we see Paul addressing the Corinthian Church, and explaining to them that God does not tempt men, but provides a way to escape the temptation. man needs to sometimes realize that at this point its his choice to live in sin or get out of sin. throughout the Bible we see that God has always been faithful to mankind yet mankind has always astray from God. we can also see because of how our God is just the outcome of sin. turn in your Bibles to Rom 6:23
Romans 6:23 NKJV
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Here in Romans we see Paul talking to the early church of Roman, especially here in Chapter 6 of Romans we that Paul explains many about how Sin is destructive to the church and that we should not continue to live in it. if we continue to live in sin, that sin leads to death. Because of God’s just we have to opportunity to chose on how we live, we can live a life full of sin and pleasure now or we can chose a life that living to God’s standards of how he wants his people to live, but at the same time we as Christians need to realize we all had to start somewhere Romans 3:23
Romans 3:23 NKJV
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
does not matter what kind of background we come from, rather we were raised in the church or not, or if we are a new christian, someone who wants to know God, or a Christian, we all have sinned against God in some way. because of God’s just we know that we are sinners who do not deserve God’s mercy, because of God’s just we able receive life from the one who gives life. turn in your Bibles to Eph 2:4-5
Ephesians 2:4–5 NKJV
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
At the end of the day it’s God who gives a choice to all of us, but there going to be a day when we won’t have the opportunity to live for God or for the world. when that day comes. that is when we’ll either have mercy and grace or we will face the wrath of God. how we live our life will reflect when we face God, and God will be just and will not show favoritism. we can think of several ways our God has been Just to people of Isreal, The Apostles , and even today God is still Just. Look at Cain and Abel, in Gen 4:1-7
Genesis 4:1–7 NKJV
Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the Lord.” Then she bore again, this time his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord. Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering, but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”
We see from this history account between two brothers, and we see that one of them becomes jealous over the other one, eventually murdering his younger brother because of this Jealously. we see that God had try to intervene by warning Cain because of his heart not being in the right place. when continue with the story of Cain and Able we see that God is Just with Cain after Cain has murdered his brother. At the end of the day we have to realize that our God is Just and he is going to be Just with us also as he was with the people of the past.

Conclusion:

With all of this in mind we come to see that Our God is Holy, meaning that he is separate, there is no other kind of god out there that is comparable to him, and that he wants his people to be in the world but also separate, not being part of the world. We Also see that our God is Righteous, meaning that he knows what is best for us, even if we do not agree with it. Our God wants us learn in his ways because its a better life for us. finally Our God is a Just God, He is Fair even today he shows no favoritism to anyone. Our God has given the freedom choice on how we want to live, but when this life is over, our life will reflect when we come into the presence of God. with this in Mind I have no clue what you all maybe struggling with in this life, but we have a God is Holy, Righteous, and Just God. who want you to know him, if with to be part of God’s family please come as we stand and sing. Thank you.
