Greeting
Hi hybrid family its alway a honour to gather towards and grow and worship Jesus. If your new here were are simply who belive and love jesus christ thats who we are and were glad your come tonight.
Opening story
Last week we spoke on how to draw near to God, we made it simply confession and a clear Concious and faith. Faith what jesus did for us, Confession when we sin, clear concious and after the service someone came to me. They share how when the sin they do confess quickly but the guilt remains and it affects my ablity to draw near to God and when you said ask God to remove the guilt and shame so that they can draw near they never heard that beofre.
Opening Story
Then a few days later i recieved a phone call from someone struggling with a question, and the question was Does God have to love me or does he want to love me? As we kept taking they realized i have been so aware of my short coming recently and its affecting my intimacy with the lord. I said to this person if God doesnt love you why send his son to die for you so that you can draw near him. God diint just die to forgive us but through him to be near us,
Transition
So If you werent here last week please watch the sermons on our youtube channel, Were going to read hebrews 5:11 - 6:11 and theres three main points i think that author highlights in this portion of scripture. 1 The Warnings of Rejecting Jesus 2. The Reward of Perservance 3. The Call towards Spiritual Maturity.
Read Hebrew 5:11 - 6:11
We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instruction about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And God permitting, we will do so.
It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.
Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are convinced of better things in your case—the things that have to do with salvation. God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized.

The Warning of Rejecting Jesus

Story
In my early years of following jesus, i remember these strong tempation like i was miss out on what the World was offering becuase my friends were graduting and they just turned 18 and they started clubs and i left like i was missing out and i would be lying if i said i didnt feel like backslidding but i had this core conviction that it was right and overtime i found more joy and peace and love in my life. I recently met up with those friends from High school one of them is going to court and another is so unwell and i was telling them, i didnt want to boast but i wanted to Boast in the lord saying Jesus was right he promised abudent life, I eanted to tell them come to Jesus he offers true life. In a simillar but more diffcult way the the church the writer is speaking to is facing strong tempatation to walk away from the Lord. He says there unwilling to understand, so he warns the church what will happen if they turn away from the Lord.
Teaching
Why are they wanting to turn away from the Lord?
Hebrews 10:33–34 NIV
Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions.
They were publicly shamed and insulted, 2. They were Persecuted, 3. They stood up with the mistreated 4. They shared the suffering of christians put in prision 5. There properity was taken from them and they were willing at one point to endure all this becuase there hope was rooted in new creation.
Now they wanting to turn away, We can understand them persoannly because if any is truly following jesus there is a cost, there is a price to following jesus christ personally and socially. We dont live in a time in the west were serious persecution exists but heres my question to hybrid church if you were in there shoes would your faith survive this level of persection. If your answer is no why? if your answer is yes ? Because a time is coming and will soon come when being a christian will be diffcult and do you teasure enough to endure or will be throw away. We need to be awake because if you in a ocean and you saw a wave coming if anchor your feet strongly in the sand to endure the wave but if your asleep that wave will take you out and you will miss the new creation.
Story
When i was 10 years old, my father thought it was a good idea to take me swimming and i had no idea how to swim so in canada you guys have artifactual waves, i didnt know and it makes this honking sound and the waves come and i get sucked into the deep end and i start drowning and they were so many kids no one was able to see me and im trying to find my footing but the water is so deep and im losing air and out of no water this lady grabs me by my shirt and picks me and she saved my life. In life when were havent perpared for the challenges that comes with following christ, or when were not anchored in his word we are endanger or drowning.
Teaching
Read
Hebrews 6:4–8 NIV
It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.
What does his warning mean?
He is warning the church who are belivers who know the word, and experienced the holy Spirit, That if you reject christ you might not return back to the lord. Then he shares a image of land and rain and the land that takes in the rain must produce fruit and the land that doenst produce fruit is in danger of be burned in the end. Many christians say im saved by faith through grace and that true but i look in there life and there no faithfullness to coming to church, getting baptized and avoiding confrontition with fellow belivers and what i want to remind hybrid is if our faith doesnt lead to being faithful by the power of the spirit were in danger of being burned becuase the holy spirit will not live in you and not grow you in christian faithfulness.

The Reward of Perservanve

Story
In my experience there are three different kinds of christian who are trying to be faithfulness, 1 first is the chirstian who is faithful to what God asks of them but never feels enough 2, the christian who is faithfull and feels enough 3, the christains who is unfaithful who is blind to there sins or surpress the convictions of the holy spirit. We need to be faithful when the persecution is light because when persection increases it we were struggle to be faithful He changes his tone he wants to remind them that he believe in them because he belives in the God in them.
Teaching
Hebrews 6:9–12 NIV
Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are convinced of better things in your case—the things that have to do with salvation. God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.
He reminds that God is fair and he will reward there faithfulness in the new creation and he wants them to patience endure as the await the promise of new bodys and new creation and christs kingodm being established on earth as he is in heaven. We shouldnt give up becuase God sees us, he Loves us and he will reward your faithfulness at the end.
Transition
What does faithfulness produce in your life maturity but why do we need to become spiritually mature?

Training for Spiritual Maturity

Story
Early on my walk with the Lord, i was playing on the high school basketball team and we had a game we had a couple hours to kill and we went to the food court and these guys we knew came up to us telling us about the mother God and how we are part of fasle churches and how were saved by obeidence and it troubled my spirit so much i couldnt focus on the game. I had to study the word and grow in it or i was mental and emotionally volunteerable to the emenies lies.
Teaching
What is defination Spiritual maturity?
If we are to training for spiritual maturty we need a clear aim, we need a defination and we need to image in our minds
1 Corinthians 14:20 NIV
Brothers and sisters, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be adults.
I think the beautiful parabox is maturity is innocents like a child but mind like a scholar. In jesus words be innocent has doves but wise as serpents. He challenges the church to grow in there knowledge of Gods word and ablity to live and discern Good from evil.
Hebrews 5:11–14 NIV
We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!
