The day begins in Jericho were Jesus healed a blind man. And just a week before Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. This was to give an example of what He would accomplish, by raising from the dead himself. Jesus’ reputation had travelled all across that area of the world and people had knowledge of a man named Jesus.

Jesus’ reputation had travelled all across that area of the world and people had knowledge of a man named Jesus.
Jericho was approximately 15 miles from Jerusalem. It would take 5 to 6 hours to get there. Remember that Jesus walked everywhere he went in his earthly ministry. This walk was entirely uphill. Jerusalem is approximately 2,700 feet above sea level.
There were multitudes of Jewish people traveling on the Jericho road as Jesus and His disciples.(ALL OF THEM) (Matt 20:17) The Jews were travelling to Jerusalem from all over the Roman World to attend the week long celebration of the Passover festival. This time the Passover festival would be named the PASSION WEEK OF CHRIST! (Matt 20:18-19)
**Jesus knew what the upcoming week would hold!

ALL OF THIS ON HIS MIND HAS HE MADE HIS WAY TO JERUSALEM! 6 HOURS FOR THE ANGUISH TO BUILD…

came to the villages of Bethphage and Bethany. These two villages were about one mile apart, one and two miles respectively from the eastern wall of Jerusalem, and sat on the eastern slope of the Mount of Olives.
Bethany was the home of Jesus’ dear friends Mary, Martha, and Lazarus; he often stayed there with his disciples
