Introduction

- Christ gave the church 2 ordinances:
o Baptism – picturing the death, burial, and resurrection.
o The Lords Supper – Picturing the Body and Blood Christ shed for our sins.
- Who should take the Lord’s supper:
o I believe that if Christ gave the ordinance to the church (the local assemblies) than those are the ones who should take the Lord’s supper.
- Why the Lord’s supper? It is to be done in remembrance of Jesus.
- As we dive into this chapter, we will see Paul reminding the church at Corinth that the Lord’s supper isn’t something to be taken lightly, but rather taken seriously.

The Lord’s Supper Demands Unity vs. 17-22

- There were some divisions in the church that weren’t being resolved.
- Paul was calling for unity before they took the Lord’s supper.
- If there is disunity in your life it needs to be taken care of before you take the Lord’s supper

The Lord’s Supper Demands Self Examination vs.27-34

- Before we take the Lords, supper there should be some time of self-examination. The Church of Corinth had turned the lords supper into a feast for some and others didn’t get anything. Paul again is reminding them that this was a serious matter.
- Vs. 28look inside yourself see if there is any disunity in you, see if there is any unconfessed sin
- Vs. 30people were getting sick and some where even dying from taking the Lord’s supper unworthily
- Vs. 31 If we examine ourselves (judge ourselves) we won’t be judged
- Vs. 33 The Lord’s supper wasn’t for the individual but for the church, they should take it together.
- Vs. 34 The lord’s supper isn’t a meal, they should eat at home. It is a time of remembrance.

The Lords Supper is a Time of Remembrance vs. 23-26

- Eat the bread in remembrance of Jesus’ body that was broken for us
- Drink the juice in remembrance of the blood that was shed for us

Conclusion
