From his birth to the last week of his life, Jesus never cease to humble himself. When Jesus and the others approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples telling them, “Go into the village ahead of you. At once you will find a Donkey tied there with her foal. Untie them and bring them to me. If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them and he will send them at once.
Bethphage is a village on Mount Olive, and it is between Bethney and Jerusalem. It means house of unripe figs.
The symbolic difference between Bethphage and Bethney is that
Bethphage is unripe figs (unfruitful spirtual)
Matthew 21:18, Jesus curse the fig tree. Because it didn’t give ripe. This is represting that Jesus will judge those who are not spiritual fruitful
Bethney is ripe figs (the house of affliction in Hebrew)
Do you remember the the first time when the Scripture mention of fig leaves? Genesis 3:7 (After sinning, Adam and Eve cloths themselves with fig lives). In the Same way, Jesus himself will cover our sins with a perfect cover, his blood.
Bethney is a place where Larserus rasing from the death and so we see there’s hope of the ressurection.
Mount Olives- when David flees from Absalom’s conspiracy. He departs from Jerusalem, climbs the Mt of Olives (2 Samuel 15:30); Solomon chose this mountain for the construction for the construction of “high paces” for the foreign dieties of sidom, Moab (1 Kings 11:7)
