Okay guys, we have been going through the beginning of the Bible and the first stories, but this week is a very important week and I dont want to miss it! What is next week? (Easter) And what is Easter? ( when Jesus rose from the dead) What about the Friday before Easter? ( Good Frieday, when Jesus died on the cross) So…this whole week leads up to the single most historic, epic, awesomest day in human history. But what does that make today?
Today, was the start of it. Actually, this week is called holy week. Does anyone know what today is?
Palm Sunday. Does anyone here know what Palm Sunday is?
I am going to tell y’all a story. So Jesus was not treated like the King he was when he was down here. And it was this day that Jesus was finally highlighted as Lord.
Matthew 21:1–11 “As Jesus and the disciples approached Jerusalem, they came to the town of Bethphage on the Mount of Olives. Jesus sent two of them on ahead. “Go into the village over there,” he said. “As soon as you enter it, you will see a donkey tied there, with its colt beside it. Untie them and bring them to me. If anyone asks what you are doing, just say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will immediately let you take them.” This took place to fulfill the prophecy that said, “Tell the people of Jerusalem, ‘Look, your King is coming to you. He is humble, riding on a donkey— riding on a donkey’s colt.’ ” The two disciples did as Jesus commanded. They brought the donkey and the colt to him and threw their garments over the colt, and he sat on it. Most of the crowd spread their garments on the road ahead of him, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. Jesus was in the center of the procession, and the people all around him were shouting, “Praise God for the Son of David! Bless…”
SO, what do we see happened? Jesus came into Jerusalem for the passover festival, riding a donkey.....not a white horse as a King does....but a donkey meaning as Prince of Peace. And Jerusalem was jam packed crowded of people finally acknowledging Jesus as the Son of God and so they laid their garments down as like a runway and laid down palm branches for the donkey carrying Jesus to walk on.
And it all leads up to Jesus paying the price for our sins. IS there any questions?
Does everyone understand this story?
