In James opening verses he says “count it all joy when fall into various trials”. James know that if we withstand the pressures of the testing of our faith, there’s so much growth that comes from that. It’s safe to say that when we endure by keeping faith in Christ, that we will come to a place of understanding and see the beauty in which God was always working, even in the trials of life. In those times our faith can truly flourish!
And if we struggle with this because we just have a hard time understanding, maybe the pressures in our life can feel like too much to handle, in verse 5 we see: If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Wisdom, in the Greek sophia. And wisdom could be understood as “insight” or “special knowledge”, a level of “experience”.
Aren’t some of the best lessons learned through our trials? When we think something is so bad and we just can’t and ugh, my heart hurts Lord please take this from me… don’t we come to a point where we look back and realized that we have come so far and often times the God was always in it?
