Mark 11:1-11

Introduction:
Today, we're diving into the Word, straight into Mark 11:1-11, where we witness Jesus, our Savior, making His triumphant entry into Jerusalem! Oh, what a sight to behold! Can you imagine it? The King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, riding in on a humble donkey, surrounded by adoring crowds, waving palm branches and shouting 'Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!' Oh, glory!"
Now, let me tell you something, brothers and sisters. This wasn't just any ordinary entrance. No, this was a proclamation of royalty, a declaration of Messiahship! Jesus wasn't just riding into Jerusalem; He was riding into His destiny, riding to fulfill the will of the Father, riding to bring salvation to all who believe! And guess what? He's still riding today! Hallelujah!
But here's the thing, saints. Jesus didn't just ride into Jerusalem for Himself. He rode for you and me! He rode knowing full well the trials and tribulations that awaited Him, knowing the cross was looming on the horizon. Yet, He rode on, in obedience and love, because He knew that His sacrifice would bring us eternal life!"
Pastor John Adolph: "And just like those crowds who welcomed Jesus with shouts of praise, we too must be willing to ride with Him! We must lay down our fears, our doubts, our selfish desires, and shout 'Hosanna' in our own lives! We must surrender to His will, allowing Him to lead us, guide us, and transform us from the inside out! Because when we ride with Jesus, we ride in victory! We ride in power! We ride in the assurance that nothing can separate us from His love!"
So, my dear brothers and sisters, I ask you again: Are you ready to ride with the King? Are you ready to surrender all and follow Him wherever He may lead? Let's not just wave our palm branches on Sunday and forget about Him the rest of the week. No! Let's ride with Him every single day, in every aspect of our lives, knowing that with Jesus, we are more than conquerors! Hallelujah! Amen!"
Jesus is on the Mount of Olives overlooking Jerusalem
He will ascend upon Jerusalem but this time he will set his focus on the cross and why he came to earth in the first place
Up until this very moment, he has not wanted to publicly proclaim who he was.
Wedding at Cana in John (2:1-11) “My time has not yet come”
Healing a Deaf and Mute Man (Mark 7:31-37): After Jesus healed a man who was deaf and had a speech impediment, he commanded the witnesses not to tell anyone. However, the more he commanded them, the more they proclaimed it.
Healing a Blind Man in Bethsaida (Mark 8:22-26): Jesus healed a blind man in Bethsaida but warned him not to go into the village or tell anyone in the village what had happened.
Casting Out Demons (Mark 1:21-28; Luke 4:31-37): In several instances where Jesus cast out demons, he instructed them not to speak.
Raising Jairus' Daughter (Mark 5:35-43): After Jesus raised Jairus' daughter from the dead, he strictly ordered them that no one should know about it and told them to give her something to eat.
Now there is a change in the Lords Strategy because now he’s about to proclaim himself as Israel’s king.
hundreds of years before the prophet Zachariah penned these words Zech. 9:9
Zechariah 9:9 ESV
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Jesus was about to fulfill this ancient scripture in detail.
Mark 11: 1-11
I. V. (1-6) The Person of this king Mark 11:1–6 Go into the village in front of you, and immediately as you enter it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it.”
a. His personality- He calls 2 of his disciples, to go and fetch a donkey. He tells them what the donkey looks like and what to say to the owner of the donkey.
Go= This would have messed half of you up right there.
There’s a jackass out there who Jesus
b. His power= if they ask you what you doing tell them “The Lord hath need of him”
Jesus was a popular name in biblical times and if he just said Jesus, it might not have a much weight to it, but Jesus proclaims his power when he puts a handle on his name. His handle has power and authority. THE LORD!!
I thought that would make ya’ll shout..it’s a miracle that the Lord hath need of me. This is an oxymoron that Jesus would need anybody.
He owned cattle on a 1000 hills, he created the moon and the stars yet he didn’t have place to lay his head
He fashioned everything out of nothing, yet he had to borrow a boat to preach his gospel from
He created every drop of water that ever existed yet he cried out “I thirst”.
He created every tree, but he died on a borrowed cross
He made every stone, but he had to borrow a tomb to be barried in
He used a cloud as a chariote, yet he had to borrow a donkey to ride into jerusalem
It’s a paradox I can’t understand it...
a. The Donkey had to be redeemed: before the donkey could ride he had to be redeemed. redeemed means to be purchased.
b. The Donkey had to be Released: it was bound and it had to be set free before the Lord could use it.
c. The Donkey had to be ruled: someone had to take charge over the donkey. The bible says it had never been ridden before…but when Jesus got on Him, he submitted himself and yielded himself under the control of the Lord.
verse 6: blessed my heart- “and straightway he will send him hither” in other words the Lord said “I’ll send him back when I’m done”
When the donkey came back he was better than he was when he left. That’s what the Lord will do for you…he takes folks as they are…uses them for his glory and when he’s done with them they come out better than they was before
Give him Abram a lost pagan, he will give you back Abraham a mighty man of faith.
Give him jacob a trickster, and he will give you back Israel the Prince of God.
Give him saul a persecutor of the church, and he will give paul a mighty apostle of God.
Give him simon the cusser and fighter, he will give you back Peter the rock of the church.
Give him a little boy from Conway, huckabee heights to be exact, and he’ll give you a preacher of the gospel
Since Jesus Came into my heart...
