It is called “Numbers” because it reports the numbers of the census.

Cities were for tified; people were larger and stronger; Israelites were like grasshoppers in comparison

God’s presence with them should have made the difference. They were God’s people, chosen to carry His name.

Misfortunes—probably the hardships of the wilderness.

Fire consumed some in the camp.

He sent meat (quail) and a plague.

Afraid that they would die in battle with the Canaanites

He wanted to destroy them, but Moses interceded. Instead, He does not allow them to enter Canaan.

Complained to Moses and Aaron that they had killed the Lord’s people.

He sent a plague among the people.
