[[Birthday Recognitions: Lynette Gibson & Jillian Sullivan]]
It’s always good to celebrate birthdays within our family…a family which Jesus, our Lord, made possible through what we acknowledge and celebrate during this Easter Week… [Pray]
[As we continue on this Easter Week, …Thursday…, Jesus and The Twelve arrive at the Upper Room. They celebrate Passover together. As the meal ends, our Lord draws their attention to what must soon take place… ]

[Just a few years after that initial Lord’s Supper, Paul reminds our brothers and sisters in Corinth—and us—about the beauty and importance of this worship observance…]
1 Corinthians 11:23–26 “For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, and said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”
1 Corinthians 11:27–29 “So, then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sin against the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself; in this way let him eat the bread and drink from the cup. For whoever eats and drinks without recognizing the body, eats and drinks judgment on himself.”
[During these next worship songs, let’s prepare our hearts and minds to faithfully focus on what this time together this Easter Thursday night is all about…]

[First, we honor our Lord who literally, physically gave himself for our salvation…]
John 2:17–22 “And his disciples remembered that it is written: Zeal for your house will consume me. So the Jews replied to him, “What sign will you show us for doing these things?” Jesus answered, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it up in three days.” Therefore the Jews said, “This temple took forty-six years to build, and will you raise it up in three days?” But he was speaking about the temple of his body. So when he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the statement Jesus had made.”
[Prayer & Serving the Bread]
Luke 22:19 “And he took bread, gave thanks, broke it, gave it to them, and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.””

[Now, we honor our Lord who shed his blood paying the price for and cleansing us from our sin…]
Hebrews 9:22 “According to the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”
Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.””
[Praying & Serving the Cup]
Matthew 26:27–29 “Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks, he gave it to them and said, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. But I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.””
