Gospel Presentation

And so, you have this beautiful picture of the Last Supper…Jesus, He gathers His followers, He washes their feet, He gives them some last instructions…and then, He leads ‘em to the garden of Gethsemane where He’ll be betrayed, arrested, beaten, mocked…nailed to a cross…where He would eventually die. All but one of His followers would run, hide, some deny Him. This picture, its the final peaceful moment of Jesus’s earthly life.
But here’s what Jesus showed us through this Last Supper. We get to see the gracious work of God among us. We get to see just how much God desires us.
Guys, your greatest need, its for you to comprehend how much Christ loves you. Do you really think He did all these things so that the first time you look at Him, there’s a scowl on His face? You need to understand that He’ll be more joyful to see you than you’ll be to see Him. He finished all that…and I want you to know that it isn’t judgement, it isn’t condemnation, it isn’t that He’s gonna frown…that’s not my motivation tonight…those mindsets, that’s gonna lead to death. No, there’s a medicine so much stronger…which is coming to a greater and greater understanding for the love of God. The more you understand how much God loves you in Christ and what He did for you through His Son, if you would just believe in that, grow in that, everything else would take its place. Its not about how much you love Him…its how much He loves you. That’s why He died…because of His great love for you, even when you were still a sinner.
And so listen, before we close our service tonight, if you’ve never responded to the message of the gospel…if you’ve never recieved salvation…I wanna give you an opportunity to do that now. The Bible, it says that “all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory”…and for that reason we’ll all die and we’ll all experience eternal separation from this good and gracious God…we need redemption. We need someone to save us.
The Bible actually speaks about a Savior. That’s who Jesus is, that’s why He came. And it says that to receive it, all we have to do is confess with our mouth and believe in our heart that Jesus is Lord…that He hung from the cross, that He died because of our sin…and that on the cross He wore the weight of our sin. He paid the penalty that belonged to us…death and separation. And because of who He was…because He was perfect and holy…He completely satisfied God’s wrath. Jesus, He rose from the dead because He is God.
All we have to do is repent and believe…and the gap between us and God can be restored.
And so listen, if that's you this evening, I just wanna take this opportunity to lead you in what many call the sinner’s prayer…now these words, they don't save you, they don't really mean anything...they're just words…it's more about what's going on in your heart. But all I wanna do is help you process that feeling you might have right now and I wanna help you turn to Jesus. And so, if that's you, if everyone would just bow there head and close their eyes…if that’s you, you repeat after me?
"Lord Jesus...I believe you are who you say you are....I believe you came into this world and I believe you lived a perfect and sinless life...I believe you went to a cross and wore the weight of my sin....I believe you experienced the punishment met for me…I believe you rose from the dead. I confess to you now that I am sinful....I am in need of grace and mercy and forgiveness...Jesus come into my life, fill me with your Spirit....Help me live in your ways and grow me to be more and more like you....I pray this in Jesus's name...Amen!"
Listen, if you prayed that and met those things in your heart...The Bible says that you've been given a new life...Jesus has given you salvation and you now have eternal life. But listen, if you said that prayer with me tonight and you meant it, I want you to tell someone before you leave tonight…maybe your pastor’s here…maybe someone that invited you…let someone know.
But listen, thank you for coming out this evening! Thank you to all those that helped to make this play possible! Thank you for your time, your gifting.
Our hope, its that it blessed you this Easter season…and that ultimately, we made much of Jesus…because that’s what it’s all about!
And listen, if you don’t have a church family…we welcome you to join us Sunday morning as we look at the resurrection together. Our service, it starts at 10:00 am, we’d love to have you with us.
Let’s go to the Lord in prayer.
