Luke 24:36–53 (ESV)
36 As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!”

Because of the death, burial and resurrection, we can have peace with God

what was their response? (Not peace!)
37 But they were startled and frightened and thought they saw a spirit.
ARE YOU SEEING THIS?
what is in these drinks?
Jesus is referring to something larger than just this moment.
The peace he brings as the resurrected King is a transcendent powerful peace WITH GOD.

Peace with God Enables us to Live With Confidence

38 And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” 40 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they still disbelieved for joy and were marveling, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate before them.
44 Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead,
How was this peace achieved?
Isaiah 53:5 ESV
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
God’s wrath is satisfied. We can stand before Got Justified
Romans 5:1 ESV
1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Have you ever had Someone you have to walk on eggshells around?
waking up early with a kid
In our victories and defeats we can come to him in confidence
Ephesians 3:12 ESV
12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him.
Hebrews 4:16 ESV
16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
The peace we have with God means we don’t have to worry about his love for us AND it means that we don’t have to worry about ANYTHING
Hebrews 13:6 ESV
6 So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
This does not mean that life will be easy. The apostles Jesus is talking to went through unimaginable hardships. Gods peace transcends circumstances because god is in control. Human peace is very much dependent on circumstances.
because god is in control we know he has a plan

Peace with God allows us to be a part of God’s Plan

47 and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things.
Matthew 28:19–20 ESV
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
