The TOP Facts about Healing
1. Healing is a part of God ----
God’s name -- Jehovah-rapha
Exodus 15:26 (AMP)
Saying, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord your God and will do what is right in His sight, and will listen to and obey His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon you which I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord Who heals you.
Four Conditions of Healing
1. Diligently hear God's voice—acknowledge Him as God; live free from idolatry.
2. Live righteous lives in His sight.
3. Give ear to His commandments—not just the ten, but all of them.
4. Keep all His statutes—regulations for civil and religious life.
The suffering of Christ for redemption
Is 53, Matthew 8:17 (AMP)
And thus He fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, He Himself took [in order to carry away] our weaknesses and infirmities and bore away our diseases.
Covenant promise and blessing
Psalms 107:19-22 (AMP)
Then they cry to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivers them out of their distresses. 20 He sends forth His word and heals them and rescues them from the pit and destruction. 21 Oh, that men would praise [and confess to] the Lord for His goodness and loving-kindness and His wonderful works to the children of men! 22 And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving and rehearse His deeds with shouts of joy and singing!
Leaves of the trees – for the nations
Revelation 22:2 (NKJV)
In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
2. Jesus healed all who came to Him –
not everyone but all who came (EXAMPLE)
Matthew 13:58
“He did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief”
Not because their unbelief limited His power, but it kept them from bringing their sick to be healed.
Christ made no failure in any one case He undertook to heal. Nor did unbelief of anyone present hinder His healing everyone who came to Him for healing.
On the contrary, 23 times it is stated He healed "them all" and "every one" (Matthew 4:23-24; Matthew 8:14-18; Matthew 9:35; Matthew 11:5; Matthew 12:15; Matthew 14:14,35-36; Matthew 15:30; Matthew 19:2; Matthew 21:14; Mark 1:32-35,39; Mark 3:10; Mark 6:5,56; Luke 4:40; Luke 5:15,17; Luke 6:17-19; Luke 7:21-23; Luke 9:11; Luke 17:17; Acts 10:38).
Matthew 9:35 (NKJV) Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
Luke 6:19 (NKJV) And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all.
He came to destroy the works of the devil.
Acts 10:38
"God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him"
1 John 3:8 (NKJV)
“….For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”
Heb 2.14
3. In the commission to preach the gospel, Jesus included healing
Mark 16:15-18 (NKJV) 15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 "they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
Luke 10:9 (NKJV) "And heal the sick there, and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.'
Matthew 10:7-8 (NKJV) 7 "And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' 8 "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
Luke 9:1-6 (NKJV) 1 Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. 2 He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. 3 And He said to them, "Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece. 4 "Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. 5 "And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them." 6 So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.
4. Jesus lives in us and wants to express His life through us
Galatians 2:20 (NKJV) "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Colossians 1:27 (NKJV) 27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
He desires to continue the action of his life here through us -
To heal and deliver
5. You have an anointing of the Holy Spirit
1 John 2:20 (NKJV) But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.
1 John 2:27 (NKJV) But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.
There is power resident in me
It can be released into the situations around me
Luke 5:17 (NKJV) “... And the power of the Lord was present to heal them.”
John 7:38-39 (NKJV) 38 "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
You can be trained – equipped – to minister in the supernatural -- healing – deliverance
Ephesians 4:12 (NKJV) for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
We are the representatives of Christ in this world
2 Corinthians 5:20 (NKJV) Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.
We can do greater works because of Holy Spirit
a[He that believeth] This means each and every believer,
c[works] Greek: ergon (GSN-2041), works, deeds, acts. Translated works 152 times and deeds 22 times. It is clear that He refers to miracles, healings, signs, wonders, and mighty acts of power (Matthew 11:20-23; Matthew 13:54-58; Matthew 14:2; John 5:20,36; John 9:3; John 10:25,32; John 14:10-12).
His works consisted of healing all manner of sickness and disease, casting out devils, raising the dead, cleansing lepers, and doing innumerable acts of deliverance from all the works of Satan (Matthew 4:23-24; Matthew 9:35; Acts 10:38). He controlled the elements, multiplied food, walked
on water, restored a severed ear, turned water into wine, accomplishing anything He undertook to do in the material and spiritual realms.
d[shall he do also] The promise here is that each believer can be endowed with power (Luke 10:19; Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4-8) and receive the Spirit without measure (John 7:37-39), so he can do all the works of Christ and even greater works than what He did. To make this a promise of spiritual works only when He did material and spiritual works is a poor excuse for unbelief. To make it refer to saving souls is to ignore facts, because He did this also. To limit it to the works of the apostles will rob other believers of the benefits of the promise.
e[greater works] The "greater works" are not those of reaching more people by means of radio, television, and the printed page, for these are natural means and can be used by unsaved men who do not have the Holy Spirit power to do the works of Christ. No man can receive greater power than Christ, for He received the Spirit without measure (John 3:34; Isaiah 11:2; Isaiah 61:1-2). Therefore, the greater works could not consist of doing greater things than Christ could have done had He had the occasion to do
them. The thought is that each believer can have equal power with Christ to do what He did as well as greater things if and when the occasion requires it.
6. Healing is available today
There are people who experience healing today
There are people who minister healing today
I can do both —— Every believer can
7. It is simple to heal the sick
Luke 10:20 “don't rejoice in the fact of healing or deliverance, rather rejoice that your names are in the book of life”
8. Many sicknesses can be caused by spirits
The devil can steal from you if you let him
John 10:10 (NKJV) "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
There is a distinct Chain of authority
Philippians 2:9-10 (NKJV) 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
You have authority over them
Luke 9:1 (NKJV) 1 Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.
9. Healing is for you
(to receive and to share)
Take it seriously
He healed all who came to Him
Matthew 10:7-8 (NKJV) 7 "And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' 8 "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
Old covenant promise Hebrews – better covenant
Exodus 23:25 (AMP)
You shall serve the Lord your God; He shall bless your bread and water, and I will take sickness from your midst.
The New Testament is based upon better promises than the Old Testament
Hebrews 8:6 (NKJV) But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.
Hebrews 2:3-4 (NKJV) 3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, 4 God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?
SHOUT GRACE! GRACE TO IT!
Twenty-one Reasons for Greater Works
1. Satan is cast out (John 12:31).
2. Satan's defeat on the cross (Col. 2:14-17; 1 Peter 2:24)
3. Completed redemption (John 19:30; Col. 2:14-17; 1 Peter 1:10-12)
4. Spirit baptism which could not be given until Jesus was glorified (John 7:37-39; Acts 1:4-8; Acts 2:33).
5. Christ's intercession for believers (Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25).
6. His restored glory (John 17:5)
7. High priesthood of Christ (Hebrews 4:14-16; Hebrews 6:20; Hebrews 7:11-28; Hebrews 9:11-15)
8. Headship of all powers (Ephes. 1:20-23; 1 Peter 3:22; Col. 2:10)
9. All authority given to Christ to give to believers (Mt 28:18-20; Jn 14:12-15; At1:8)
10. Completed victory over death, hell and the grave (Hebrews 2:14-15; Rev. 1:18; Col. 2:14-15)
11. His headship of the church (Ephes. 1:20-23; Col. 1:16-18,24)
12. Making of the New Covenant benefits based upon better promises (Matthew 26:28; 2 Cor. 3:6-15; Hebrews 8:6) and confirmed by greater powers (Hebrews 2:1-4; Mark 16:15-20; Luke 24:49; 2 Cor. 3:6-15; 2 Peter 1:1-10)
13. Fullness of grace now possible in Christ (John 1:17; Col. 2:10)
14. Full salvation glory that was to follow the sufferings (1 Peter 1:10-12; Hebrews 2:1-4; 2 Cor. 3)
15. Entrance into the holiest by every believer now possible (Hb 10:19-38; Ep 2:14-18)
16. Time for God to bless both Jews and Gentiles alike (Ephes. 2:14-18; Ephes. 3:1-11; Romans 10:9-14)
17. Time to send men with full authority and power as God sent Christ (John 17:18; John 20:21)
18. Time for each believer to receive all the gifts and fruit of the Spirit, which they could only receive in part in Old Testament times (John 7:37-39; John 14:12-15; Matthew 17:20; Matthew 21:22; Mark 9:23)
19. Time of no limitations in Christ, in the Spirit, and in the full benefits of the gospel promises (Matthew 17:20; Matthew 21:22; Mark 9:23; Mark 11:22-24; John 15:7,16; 2 Cor. 2:20; 2 Peter 1:1-12)
20. Time for the universality of the program of God in blessing all nations (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-20; Luke 24:47-49; Acts 1:4-8; Genesis 12:1-3). Believers would be carrying out the full program of the gospel in worldwide works of power even in a greater degree and kind than that of Christ, depending upon the needs.
21. Because I go to My Father and will not be here to continue My works or do greater ones. I will give My power to My disciples to carry on where I stop. They will do the greater things that I would have done if I had continued (John 14:12). I will give them authority and see to it that My work is carried on through them.
