EASTER CHANGES EVERYTHING He is Risen, He is risen indeed.

John 20:1–9 NKJV
Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.” Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple, and were going to the tomb. So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first. And he, stooping down and looking in, saw the linen cloths lying there; yet he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there, and the handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded together in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed. For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.

I. Death was defeated.

Revelation 1:18 NKJV
18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.
John 11:25–26 NKJV
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

A. Death of the Flesh

Jesus showed us that the grave does not have to be our master. Through Christ we can defeat death and trade mortality for immortality.

B. Death of Sin

Sin was not done away with at the cross, nor at the empty tomb. What was slain was the power of sin. No longer must you or i be a slave to sin, but we can walk in victory through the power of Jesus name.
Romans 8:2 NKJV
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

II. The Law was Superseded.

Have you ever wondered why so many people reject the Bible and truth?
The Bible says that there is a way that seems right unto a man but the end of it is the ways of death.
Humanity hates the Bible because it reminds us of the consequences of sin. The law is a constant reminder of our frailty and inadequacy.

A. The law was fulfilled in Jesus.

Matthew 5:17 NKJV
17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.
What Jesus did on Calvary was He fulfilled the law and with His death and resurrection defeated the law that we may have life and forgiveness through HIm.
The law demanded a perfect sacrifice. The law was the standard by which perfection was measured. Neither Old Testament Saint or New Testament believer has lived satisfactory to the standard of the law. However, Jesus fulfilled the law and became eligible, the only eligible candidate for redemptions sacrifice.

B. We are heirs of grace.

Romans 6:17–18 NKJV
17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
Had Jesus not risen we would have been heirs of death, However, because He lives we are heirs of His grace.

III. Redemption was Completed.

A. Atonement was made.

Ephesians 1:7 NKJV
7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
Romans 4:7 NKJV
7 “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, And whose sins are covered;

B. God’s wrath was satisfied.

Romans 3:21–26 NKJV
21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Because the wrath of God was satisfied, there was no need for further sacrifice.
Jesus resurrection is proof of Gods wrath being satisfied. How? Because if Gods wrath had not been satisfied, Jesus’ death would not have been enough ad would have demanded a further sacrifice. Yet, because He lives we know that we have an advocate with the Father.
1 John 2:1 NKJV
1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
He is Risen, He is risen indeed.
